Massacre. (MHA)
The crowd of panicking civilians rushed through the street that led to the safe zone. Pro-Hero squads arrived by the minute as the area was evacuated on three roads, one on the East, the other in the West and one in the South. The Pro-Heroes were tasked to defend all evacuations until further support arrived to handle the scene.
Currently the East road was in danger, the criminal alliance swarmed in without hesitation. Looting, capturing and killing any who stand in their way.
Kalide watched the onslaught from the window on the top floor of the mall. Rebels. He thought. No mercy for rebels.
"Sir?" called out Ban, a close friend.
"Yes?" Kalide answered, still looking at the massacre below.
"We are ready."
"Good. wait for me at the ground floor with the rest, I will be with you very soon."
Ban nodded his head and returned to where the rest of Kalide's attack force was.
Kalide sighed as he decided on the decisions he made, the initial plan was to attack, rout the enemy and take anything that the enemy had in his hands. Even if the items were stolen.
He exhaled, now made his final decision for the attack. He returned to the ground floor and pondered over the sight of his thirty loyal followers clothed in white robe-ish uniforms. They were those who were once his captives, captured by Kalide during his time working with criminal organizations, before he chose his own path to force peace on the realm. They were nicknamed "The Redeemed" due to their choice to redeem themselves over their evil decisions from years before.
Kalide nodded at Ban who then raised his hand with an open palm which signalled the command to rise up and prepare to receive the order. "Everyone. Listen closely." He announced, chest puffed and head high.
"Today is the day where no enemy will be spared," He spoke calmly but his voice loud enough for everyone present to hear "It does not matter if they are Pro-Heroes or random criminals! All of them are your enemies, and whoever is the enemy of the redeemed are MY enemies for I am the leader of the redeemed! Now! My loyal soldiers! Prepare to advance!"
"Uwaaaaaaa!" The men cheered in unison as they raised their sharpened spears. Kalide then turned his view towards the main entrance and with the movement of his hand towards it signalled the attack.
"Shyugekiiiiiiiii!" Cried the Kalide loyalists as they swarmed out of the building and charged against the scattered criminals who reacted in confusion and panic as the men armed with spears took them down en masse, breaking through and separating the criminals and swarmed the separated groups.
At the East road where the Pro-Heroes were desperate in fending off the attack to allow the river of civilians to escape the city.
"Captain!" called out a fellow Pro-Hero.
The captain responded by looking at him.
"The attacks seem to have stopped, do you think it's over?"
The captain shook his head. "I don't know." He answered. "They could be taking a break, we should too. You hit the sack, I'll be on watch."
The Pro-Hero obeyed and went into the rear of the defence line to rest, his squad following him.
The captain turned on his walkie-talkie to inform headquarters about the issue. At the same time some fresh support had arrived on the scene.
"Maybe it's a good thing they stopped." The man at headquarters replied. "They might be preparing for another attack but only this time your defences will be stronger. More relief forces are on their way to help your defence. Don't worry captain, your job is to defend the East road and that is all, the order to advance in the city will be authorized as soon as all the roads are cleared of civilians."
"Roger that." He said, turning off the microphone and returning to his duty.
"Gyah!" The victim of Kalide's sharp spear cried his last breath. Kalide took out his blade from his chest and walked away, leaving behind him four victims of his killing.
"Kalide!" Ban showed up again after finishing off his last enemy, smiling in content seeing the rest of them rout.
"Should we chase them down?" Ban said excitedly.
"No, we have done enough. Take the loot and leave." replied Kalide, facing the routing enemy.
"But sir? We could cut them down easily if we-"
"No." the general turned around and pointed in the direction of the East road. "The heroes are massing to advance into the city." Then he pointed towards the direction of the enemy "They would likely lead us into a bigger problem, we'll take what we have and go away, let the elephants fight the elephants and let the eagles fly away. Let's go."
Ban nodded and heeded the orders by declaring to the rest to gather all the loot they could find and leave as soon as possible.
The Redeemed retreated back into the shadows with their loot consisting of the enemies arms such as knives, bats and other melee weapons. The others were various stolen items such as bags, purses, jewelry and clothes.
"Ehhhhh, It's nice to have all this loot neh?" said one of men who embarked on Kalide's raiding campaign, in his hands was a piece of clothing that was made into a bag to carry his loot.
"We'd have to give it to Kalide soon," his friend replied. It was Kalide's order to gather all the loot from each raid, Kalide would sort out the loot and distribute a one fifth to the fighters, the rest was to be traded or sold to other organizations so that the Redeemed would have the best guaranteed equipment and supplies they could have.
"Ahhh, Can't we just keep it to ourselves? We already have the equipment and food, why do we need to give it to him now? Or maybe he's just saving it all for himself? That bastar-"
"Watch your mouth you fool, Kalide has always been honest ever since the beginning, why would he lie now?"
"What if he did?"
"It doesn't sound like him, ever."
"I'm just saying! It could be a possibility!"
"And it could be not, you're just hungry for the loot are you? Kalide won't give you your fair share if you don't give it to him like he ordered you to."
"So what? I'm not going to have my share? I already have more than I could get right over here!" He pulled up his bag of loot.
On the Eastern road the Heroes were now massed to a great number of a hundred, their sidekicks added up to more than three hundred. Their superiors now have given them the order to advance into the city and clear it from the criminals.
The advance was smooth, the forces on the other roads were advancing as well, an attack converging on three sides would spell their recapture of the city. Suspiciously, the path on the Eastern road were piles of bodies that laid littered on the streets, accompanied by streams of blood.
Did they kill each other? The captain thought as he inspected the bodies from a distance.
