Fixing a Broken Life

Chapter 1

A loud crash and screams echoed through the mountains surrounding. Sparks flew, metal scraped, and glass shattered.

Blood splattered all around the car interior.

The faces of the married couple beat up and their bodies twisted horribly in the front seats with their daughter in the back, crying. Then it all went dark...

Mai woke up from the memory that had played in her head during the cold nights. It had been only about a month since the incident and it still never went away. A tear rolled down her cheek as she sat up. A soft purr came from her cat that lay next to her. He could feel her sadness and stayed with her every night that they had been in the League Of Villains. She carefully pet him then she got up off the floor on which she slept. There wasn't much to her room, a few blankets and some pillows on the floor along with pencils and markers that were scattered. There was a sketch book with pages ripped out that now hung on the walls. She had a dresser, too, with nothing on it. She got some clothes from it and went into the bathroom down the hall.

She had combed her currently dark brown, messy hair and brushed her teeth. She then changed into black cargo pants, black combat boots, a long sleeved black and red striped shirt with a Friday The 13th t-shirt over it. Mai did her makeup which was simple pencil eyeliner. She wasn't going to go anywhere, she just wanted to look nice as much as possible.

When she returned to her room she was met with a smiling girl which she joined with. She sat on the blankets on the floor looking at the room's owner. Mai jumped a bit, startled by someone being in there.

"Jesus, Toga- you almost gave me a heart attack." She said to the blonde and walked over to her. "What are you even doing in here?" She asked, looking down expectantly at the girl named Himiko Toga.

"Sorry, I just wanted to hang out with you, Mai-san!" Toga answered then giggled. She jumped up in front of Mai and grabbed her cold, scaled hands and pulled her to the main room. They were met with Kurogiri behind the bar, Shigaraki sitting on a stool, and Dabi at a booth watching T.V. with Spinner. Mai's heart fluttered at the sight of the teal-haired male. She could feel her face heat up and she turned around to go back to her room to collect herself.

"Hey! Where are you going!?" Toga whined and ran in front of the girl. She saw Mai's face and squealed, earning confused looks from everyone except Mai, who shushed her angrily.

"I'm going to get my cat. I'll be back." She said, giving the blonde a glare and quickly ran to her room.  She took a deep breath in. Mai didn't know what she was really feeling and why she was reacting like a teenager about it. Love always confused her for as long as she could remember.

After a moment, Mai returned with her cat in her arms and she set him on a bar stool, only for him to jump a few seats over towards Shigaraki. He had gotten used to most of the members pretty quickly but only just recently he started going over to them. 

A demanding meow came from the feline, telling the crimson-eyed man that he wanted to be pet. Luckily, Mai had convinced Shigaraki to get some artist gloves or else he wouldn't be able to pet the cat. He just looked at the cat, confused about what he wanted.

"He wants you to pet him. See-" She pointed out as she sat on the other side of the cat. Putting her hand out, the cat nudged his face on her hand before doing the same to the man's arm. Shigaraki lightly pet him, still slightly fearing he would hurt him. Taking this as an invitation, the cat climbed onto his lap and laid down. 

"Hi Sushi.." Shigaraki's raspy voice said to him. Sushi was the most important thing Mai had brought with her to the League Of Villains. She had him since she was 5 years old and loved him so much but felt jealous when he would be with anyone else. She stared at the 2 of them, smiling from the scene.  Suddenly, Toga came bounding over and tugged on Mai's arm. 

"Mai-Saaaaaaaan! Will you go shopping with me?! Oh please go shopping with me! Can she Tomura? Pleeeeeasee!" Toga asked, frantically looking between the two of them. 

"As long as you tell her our plan and get her the stuff." Shigaraki replied gruffly. Another squeal came from the girl and she ran to her room and came back with a vile of blood. 

"This should last me long enough!" She said with a large grin. 

"Ok well umm... why are we going shopping? What plan?" Mai asked hesitantly.

"You will see when we get there" Toga answered before pulling the confused Mai Kinishi out the door. What was going to happen? What stuff? How long would we be there? These were all questions racing through her mind.

Ok! So first chapter done. Sorry I talk about the cat so much 😅 Also sorry that it's short. This is the first time I'm writing anything like this. Sorry once again.
