Boom Boom...! Boom Boom...! Boom Boom..! Boom Boom! Boom Boom! Boom Boom! Boom Boom!
Knock Knock!

"Holy crap you startled me!," I gasped as I looked at my boss Aurora.

"I'm sorry sweetie, but you're up next," she said.

I looked down at my trembling hands as I continued to hear the beating of my heart through my ears, tears of fear brimming in my eyes.

"Hey! It's okay! Don't be scared. You are going to do great, okay? Just remember, it's all about confidence."

I nod and get up from my chair. I walk towards the mirror and stare at myself up and down. I stare slowly and realize I look not like myself. I detail the black masquerade mask that matches the tight red corset hugging my chest and waist. Looking lower to capture the straps that wrap around my thighs just above my knee high leather boots. I didn't look like myself, because at that moment, I wasn't.

In this moment I was not the shy and timid girl everyone knew. Not the girl who hesitated to talk to a boy, or hesitated to raise their hand in class. No, in this moment, I was someone else, someone every girl dreams to be.

"I'm ready."

I walk out my dressing room towards the screams and whistles of the audience and stand behind the black curtain. I inhale the alcohol filled air strong enough to clear my sinuses and move to fix the mask on my face.

"Let's go baby!"

"Come out!"

Whistles

"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the stage, our new dancer, Anastacia!".

The curtains open revealing the sea of drooling men and women, some on their knees, others with wads of cash waiting to rain upon my body.

I smile devilishly and with one last breath, I whisper, "Showtime."
