The pack was buzzing with activities early in morning due to the ball that was going to be held tonight. Everyone excitement could be felt in the air. But the person who wasn't was Ava. She was wreaked with nerves as tomorrow was the last day leave for participating in the exam for Elites. She'd already submitted the application and was accepted. She'd to somehow convince her mother to let her leave. She was scared her mother would refuse.

"Ava... Is my dress ready??", called Evelyn who was standing right in front of her. Normally Ava would have heard her even before she entered but today she was too lost in her thoughts to notice her come in.

"Yeah...it's done" Replied Ava. She helped her sister to try it on.

"It's perfect!!!" Exclaimed, the blue eyed girl."I'm gonna be the most beautiful among all female wolves who are attending." Ava absentmindedly hummed in agreement.

"Do you know even the neighbouring pack's future Alpha, Alex is al attending the ball tonight?" This immediately caught her attention. She'd heard that Alex was also going to attend the Elite's Exam. Perhaps she could ask his help to convince her parents to let her go.

Later in evening..

Evelyn twirled in front of the full mirror. Her hair was beautifully done in a updo. Her dress fitted her perfectly hugging her petite frame.

"I look so gorgeous!" Said Evelyn mesmerized with how beautiful she looked. Ava shook her head at her sister silliness. It had taken more 3 hours for her help her get ready.

"Oh.. Eve, you look so beautiful dear." Their mother said entering the room, totally ignoring her eldest daughter.

"Mother I need to speak..." Ava was about to talk to her mother about her exam when she was interrupted.

"Why aren't you ready yet?" Questioned her mother annoyed that they might get late.

"I was just about to." Said Ava. "But.." She tried to tell her again but she cut off in between.

"What are you waiting for?" Her mother asked. She got busy in fussing on her youngest daughter. Ava sighed, perhaps she could talk to her later, she thought and quietly left to get ready.

She quickly got dressed and left her naturally wavy dark brown hair down. She didn't even bother with doing makeup. She looked at herself in the mirror. Her cheeks had gained their normal glow back as she had started feeling better for the last few days.

Ava walked down the stairs to see her family waiting.

"Finally..!!. How long do you need to get ready?" Her father scolded, angry that they had kept waiting. An unnoticeable frown formed in between her eyebrows. Everyone had praised Evelyn, even though it had taken hours for her to get ready, whereas she got scolded for getting a few minutes late, that too because she was helping her sister.

"No.. I shouldn't think like that. They are my parents. They would never discriminate between their kids." thought Ava. Her father had always been distant with her. He never pampered her the way he did her sister. But she knew being eldest of all three siblings, She had to be the responsible one. That's why her parents were strict on her.

"Ava, why don't you and Damien go by his car?" Said Evelyn. She didn't want to be seen with Ava. What if the future alpha saw her with Ava and thought that Ava was more beautiful, she thought. It was something Evelyn was secretly jealous of that Ava was effortlessly beautiful. Even now, without any makeup she looked radiant enough to outshine her.

All of got into the car and drove to the venue. On reaching the venue, Ava sighed and got out of car. Damien knew how uncomfortable his sister was in huge gatherings. He held his out for her and grinned trying to ease her. She faintly smiled at her brother's efforts and hooked her arm through his.
