I Remain

TW: Swearing (it's like once, but here you go anyway.)
-----

Upon hearing the question, Wei Wuxian smirked, a nearly crazed glint in his eye.

"Why aren't I gone? Oh, I don't know, why do fierce corpses exist? Where do they come from, Hanguang-Jun?" He spoke quickly, leaving no space for anyone to interject. "I remain because I have both unfinished business and new business." "And that business is?" Wangji pressed. "I don't see how it's your business." He scoffed, turning his head.

Wangji slammed his hand down on the table. "I demand you tell me!" He shouted, the two older Lans looking at him in disbelief, while Baoying had a very subtle smirk on her face. That bitch shouldn't smile like that, it makes her look more ugly than she already is.

Lan Xichen began to speak, but halted when he heard laughter. Deep ans slightly raspy, and filled will malice. Wei Ying was laughing, but somehow managed to keep a straight face and locked eyes with Wangji's, the former's eyes turning that dangerously stunning crimson, dark cracks forming on his skin and the energy in the room becoming hostile towards the couple.

(If you're confused, this is where he becomes more similar to a fierce corpse - like Wen Ning - but he's still technically a spirit. If anyone is too confused by this, I'll update the descriptions page to explain it more.)

He began to speak, opening his jaw just a little too wide, with teeth just little too sharp to be anything human, and the words were definitely his, but the voice was not.

(What the above says: "Stupid, oh so very stupid. The fact that you think you hold any power over me now, either as a friend or a superior is now negligible, considering what you've done to me. The relationship we had may as well be ancient history now that you've been busy forgetting, while I was busy burning for my crimes. You have no right to demand information from me, not until you remember. Even if you do remember and beg for forgiveness, I'd rather hand myself over to those Jins who sanctioned my death than have anything to do with you again.")

With these words, the room's ambience quickly returned to normal and Wei Ying disappeared, almost like he had ceased to exist. Xichen almost started panicking, but then he noticed something.

A tiny snake, with glossy black scales and intimidating yet tired red eyes, had wrapped itself around Xichen's left ring finger.

Breathing out a sigh of relief, he looked over at the couple; more specifically, he looked at Wangji, who looked as though he had aged ten years. His face was drawn and pale, sucked of colour, and his hands were trembling violently - Baoying took his hands in her own, murmuring unintelligible words, but Xichen could not help but notice the small look of annoyance that flickered in her eyes.

I hope you all enjoyed reading this. I know it's shorter than usual, but I didn't really have many ideas other than Wei Ying's speech...

However :)

The next part will start off with a time skip, but not like, years ahead or something. Why, you may ask?

Because the next few chapters are gonna be pretty fluffy, as the last few have been kinda angsty. I love angst as much as the next person, but everyone needs a break, y'know?

Happy Reading (Bookworms)! ☆
