I strolled through the gates of Aphrodite, an old city visited by few people. Directly in front of me was a small crowd, huddled together as though they feared something. I thought nothing of it and walked right through the crowd. Old Victorian homes filled the city, with a few other buildings standing out, such as churches and markets. I began walking around aimlessly, enjoying the view of the city. Suddenly, two large, cold hands took hold of my arms, and another covered my mouth. I kicked and squirmed in a hopeless attempt of freeing myself, but nothing worked. I felt a cold metal weapon smash against my skull, causing me to lose consciousness. All I could see was the city blurring into one image, then fading away.
After regaining my consciousness, I realized my hands were bound together by chains, a were my feet. And my mouth was covered by a cloth. What the hell is going on?! I heard the clank of heavy armor walking down a hallway. At that moment I realized I was in a prison cell. I saw the cell door, which I hadn't noticed before, and the small window on the door, blocked by bars. The door swung open, revealing a heavily armored guard. "Name, date of birth, age, and reason for illegally entering Aphrodite," he commanded as he uncovered my mouth. "Uuuhh... Kera Anthias, June 18th, year 600, 18 years old, and how did I illegally enter Aphrodite? The gates were wide open and a crowd of people entered with me." I was now beyond confused. What had I ever done to them? "You need a pass to enter the city, and in return you get a tag, proving you have paid the entrance fee," he spat. He looked annoyed at me for being so ignorant to the law, and I didn't blame him. "I-I didn't know, s-sir..." I mumbled. "Of course you knew you trespasser!! You'll burn in hell for disobeying the law!" He hissed as he prepared to swing his sword at me. "Aphrodite. Goddess love according to Greek mythology. Was this city truly named after her, with all the hatred it spreads?" An unfamiliar voice said, almost singing. A tall man in chainmail strolled down the dark hall. His long golden hair, reaching down to his shoulders, swayed with each step. His blue eyes shined with happiness and leisure. His perfect smile took my breath away. I sat on the ground, still chained up, and stared at this beautiful human. No... He was too perfect to be a human, right? As I thought about this perfect being, the guard had begun attacking the intruder. My focus returned to them, and I saw how easily he dodged the attacks, the flow in his movement. With one hit, he knocked the guard down and left him powerless. "Are you alright, milady?" He asked. "I suppose... Just a little scared is all," I sighed. He then moved closer towards me. Our lips were no more than a few inches apart, and my face burned with embarrassment as the thought of our lips meeting appeared in my mind. He unchained me, and picked me up. I felt so helpless in his arms, but it felt good. I wanted to stay there forever. "Can you walk?" He whispered. "Yes," I replied. "Then you can run, cause there's more guards coming." He set me down and grabbed my hand. Then we ran through the dark halls, the heavy clanking of the guards' armor not far behind us. We bust through the doors of the guard barracks, and ran through the city. Past vendors, children playing, towers, and finally stopping at a gray house near the walls of Aphrodite. "I present to you my home. I hope you don't mind staying here until we can sneak you out of the city. I also hope you don't mind my maid," he told me as he opened the door. When I saw the inside of his home, I could not believe my eyesTO BE CONTINUED...
