Remembrance

II

7:00 am. Monday August 9th

"Holy shit", I say mistakenly out loud

"What? What's up?" Finn questions me but I unconsciously ignore them.

There stood behind the counter, the one and only Eren Yeager. The guy I, for some reason, couldn't get out of my mind.

He looks different from my memories. His neck is covered by long silky brown hair that falls graciously against his shoulders. A snake tattoo shines on his neck as he pulls his locks back. The same key necklace resides on his neck from my memories. His green eyes glisten at the sound of his name being called.

"Hey Jeannn, long time no see", he calls out to the guy in front of me as he daps him up. He laughs at something the supposed Jean says and starts snickering about something that has to do with a horse. Probably some inside joke they have.

His deep soothing voice draws me in and I become unaware of how out of it I look.

"Um, y/n... it's your turn", Finn whispers as they snap me back from reality.

I step up towards the cash register and smile at the brunette in front of me.

"Hey welcome to Carla's Bakery, what can I get started for you?", he says in such a happy go lucky tune, almost as if it was memorized.

I look up at the menu trying to figure what I can order in time before things get awkward. The first thing I feel myself drawn to are the blueberry scones.

"I'll take a blueberry scone with a chai tea latte please", I say as calmly as I can. For some reason I can't contain the fluttering feel in my chest.

Standing closer towards him I can smell a brisk hint of vanilla and the minty hue of whatever gum he chews inside his pearly white teeth. I look up at him and for a second it feels as if his eyes dilated when they met mine. His lips part as if he's about to say something until Finn comes closer and interrupts.

"Can you add a donut with that too? Oh and 2 water bottles too. You know, need to be prepared for the big day", Finn boasts looking towards me.

"Are you two new around here?", Eren asks looking back and forth between me and Finn.

"Is it that obvious?", I say scratching the back of my neck out of nervousness

"I only ask because I've never seen either of you before", he chuckles nervously. I notice his eyes linger towards me for a little longer than normal and then go back to looking between both me and Finn.

"Well, it's our first day of classes at Maria University.", Finn speaks up. "Kind of wishing we had someone to show us around-"

"I know the perfect person to show you all around the city", Eren says slightly excitingly.

"Armin Arlert!"

"Who is that?", I say trying hard to mask my disappointment.

"Just a guy I know who knows basically everything about, well, everything! Especially things about this city. He even knows the little facts like when the city was built, it's founding members, and the dark secrets it keeps hidd-"

"Okay damn we get it he's good, now give us his number already", Finn says annoyingly.

I softly punch them in the arm for their obscene rudeness.

"I'm sorry about them, they can be a little mean at times..", I say glaring at them.

"Oh no it's fine, I was getting a little carried away there anyways", Eren says while grabbing a pen and paper from the side of him.

He writes down what I assume to be Armin's number and then hands it to Finn.

"Here you guys go and your order will be just over there to pick up", he says pointing to a little wide counter with a sign reading "Pick Up".

"Thank you kind sir", Finn says sarcastically.

Before I leave I decide to ignore my already established knowledge and ask:.

"By the way, what's your name?"

Eren looks up at me as I ask my question and he immediately smiles.

"Eren. And yours?", he says enthusiastically.

"Y/n", I say.

"Y/n".

His once remained smile fades as he notices the amount of annoyed customers behind me.

"Looks like I got to get back to it. Uh, see you guys around?", Eren asks us.

"Yeah, maybe", I say in an almost whisper.

Me and Finn walk over to the counter and grab our orders and then we walk out of the cafe. For some reason I start smiling and Finn notices slightly bumping into me so I can get their attention.

"Eren huh. You think he's cute?", they say, smirking. I don't respond and just roll my eyes at them.

"Let's get into the car", I say speed walking towards the vehicle parked near the middle of the lot.

"Oh you totally do", Finn says, running up to me and hugging me from behind.

We reach the car and I hop into the driver's seat, starting my route to my new school. Maria University. Somewhere I never saw myself going to. I guess sometimes, dreams can become reality.
