Alexa

  The past few days have been painful, considering I have to deal with Henry. I was enjoying my lunch peacefully when he came to my seat and  and just started talking...

'So did you watch the movie," he asked. I did watch it actually and it was surprisingly one of the best sitcoms I have ever watched,  but I didn't tell him that simply because he's HENRY. We started talking about Rick and Morty and at some point I even laughed at one of his jokes. I quickly snapped out of it because I wouldn't want anyone thinking we're friends. Eww. Before I knew it lunch was over and I had spent thirty minutes talking to him, thirty whole flipping minutes! Ben hasn't been bothering me lately and honestly, I'm enjoying not having to deal with him, but for once he's focusing on school which is quite surprising. Its almost like he's a new person now. I might as well start calling him by his full name 'BENNEDICT'. 

"Hello !earth to Lexi" Henry said waving a hand in front of my face. "Yes!, you were saying" I said almost falling from my seat. "Woah princess". "I'm not your princess" I replied almost instantly. Then I realized, had he just called me Lexi? Only my grandma calls me that! and for years I have tried to make her stop.  The way he said it though, kind of makes me not hate the name Lexi...LEXI, I'm Lexi, I love the name Lexi! " Well I'm going now, see you in class" Henry said leaving me feeling extremely awkward. I stood up to go to my locker when I heard a voice behind me say "Well you two seem to be all buddy buddy lately" I turn to see Ben. "Ever heard of greetings? "I replied, audaciously. "Heyy Alexa" he said sarcastically. " I go by Lexi now" I told him. "Okayy Lexi, byee Lexi" he said, we stood there for approximately twenty seconds in uncomfortable silence and then he left. Talk about awkward. I rush to class because I don't want to be late for my favorite subject, which is Literature of course. It is LITERALLY (pun intended) the best! But I don't get why most people my age are not as fond of it as I am. As always, my teacher asks me to carry her books to her office. When I get there I find a girl who seems to be my age, sitting in there. My teacher introduces me to her "This is Emily, my niece, she will be joining your class starting today." I subconsciously 'analyze' her and damn she looks scary, even her aesthetic shouts 'Back Off'. "Nice to meet you Emily, my name is Alexandra, but you can call me Alexa but nowadays I prefer  Lexi" I say ecstatically. "Nice to meet you too Ale- Lexi" she replies with a ..smile. She looks less scarier when she smiles and her voice, it's so mature but also so...soothing. 

I spend a lot of time with Emily, showing her around the school. I got to know her a little and we have so much in common, same music taste, we both like poetry, novels, skating and art. I think I have found my platonic soulmate! 

We go for our next class, which is Math. "So here you multiply x and x to get x squared, then you multiply 6 and 7 to get..new kid, Emily, what is  the answer?" Our Math teacher asks. Funny how teachers are always picking the new kids. I sigh because I'm really annoyed by Mr. Jay who probably thinks Emily can't do simple Math. "Emily! 6 times 7?" he asks her again. I  look at her confused as to why she has not answered the question."Twe- Thirty" Emily stutters. Mr. Jay keeps on asking her simple Math questions and she keeps on getting them wrong. By the end of the lesson I am dumbstruck.  That it was just Math she was bad at, I had concluded but then came English, Physics, Chemistry!  When school ended I found it hard to go talk to her. Then she came to me and started a normal conversation like nothing happened. I have never been so confused, so I ask her "Emily how are you so bad at school?" i did not mean to ask it that way but also I'm pretty sure there is a reason she did what she did, there's no way my dear, precious Emily is dumb! "Well, truth is Alexa, I."     I am more confused, what does she mean "I".   "Is this some kind of joke?" I ask her. She just grins at me and starts walking to her mom's car.  I stand in shock as I watch them drive away.
