A muffled voice could be heard in the rain. Inside a small cave, a white haired male was sitting, holding onto his knees. His legs were injured and he couldn't move. One hand stretched out to his staff, grasping it tightly to help him endure the pain.

Sound of bushes heard and he knew immediately someone or something is coming to his way. He casts a spell toward the cave entrance and managed to build a weak shield, hoping it could protect him. 'The shield will wore off soon though, it won't last,' the mage thought to himself. Behind the shield he could see a black-haired male standing and pressing his hands to the shield. "Mafumafu!" The male yelled as he draw his sword, attacking the shield without any effect. 'Ah, Soraru-san,' Mafumafu thought before his vision turned dark.

Mafumafu opened his eyes as soon as he came into conciousness. The ray of light blocked his vision immediately. He was about to move his hand to block the light when he felt a heavy weight on it. He saw Soraru sleeping soundly on his arm. The next thing he saw was Suzumu's staff on the edge of the bed and the owner sitting near his injured legs.

"Suzumun?" He tried to call with a hoarse voice. His voice startled the healer and woke Soraru up at once. "Mafumafu-kun, you're awake!" The door slammed open immediately, revealing a worried Amatsuki and Kashitaro on the doorway. They approached Mafumafu with quick steps, kicking Soraru out of the way in process.

"Are you okay? Anything hurt?" Amatsuki said with a concerned voice. "Water," Mafumafu simply said and Kashitaro gave him a glass of water on the desk beside him. "Should I get Yuuto too?" Mafumafu shook his head slowly before he drank.

"You've got no idea how worried we are, Mafumafu. Especially, Soraru," Kashitaro said in a whisper. Mafumafu shot Soraru a look. The said swordsman glared at Kashitaro before sighed, "can you give us some time?" Amatsuki nodded in response, pushing Kashitaro and Suzumu outside before he stepped outside as well.

As the door closed, Soraru sat on the bed and stared blankly to the floor. Mafumafu shifted uncomfortably while waiting Soraru to say something.

"I was there when your legs were injured," he starts, "it was terrifying to hear your pained scream right when that claw clashed to your legs. I saw it myself how it tore your skin. After that, I couldn't recall what happened and my visions went red but what I knew next was I managed to slay the monster."

"But I don't see you anywhere. I thought I've lost you, I thought I killed you. But then as I searched for you, I heard your small voice and saw your shield on the cave entrance. I saw you enduring your pain, I saw you collapsed five meters away from me but I couldn't do anything," Soraru hid it well, but Mafumafu know he's starting to cry.

"And I thought, what if I lose you inside that barrier? Your barrier doesn't wore off even after you collapsed. After a few minutes it wore off and I rushed to your side. I thought you've left me for real. I- I really don't know what would happened if I lose you without putting up a fight."

Mafumafu moved forward and pulled Soraru into his arms. The embraced male broke down immediately as he fell into the mage's arms. "It's alright, I'm here, Soraru-san. You saved me. I'm alive. Thank you."
