It didn't happen that often where someone was killed on the street in the middle of the night. The city was not quiet, but neither was it loud. At least not to you, you went out a few times and had decided that you would stick indoors.

Was a waste of time.

You thought to yourself as you watched the forensic team bustle about. The body was lying face down, but it was clear that the victim was a young female.

God, this is aweful.

You've dealt with cases like these, and you had to swallow your nerves and carry on, which wasn't easy to do.

You quickly answer your phone when you read who was calling, 'Captain? Is everything alright?'

Captain Rollonds' husky voice broke through the silence, 'everything is fine (L/N), I'm just letting you know that there will be a Lieutenant who will be joining you on the case'.

'Wait, what? I thought you were happy with me on my own-'.

'Yes, I am, but this victim is connected to FBI, so you'll work alongside Luitenant Wick for the time being until the Department hands over the case to them'.

'Then what's the whole point then?'

You usually bite back but Rollonds' was quite use to you and your behaviour. He's the one who ends the call and you're left with silence on the line.

'Of course I have to deal with this fucking old-'.

'Detective (L/N)?'

You turn around to see a tall man approach you. He's dressed in formal wear just like you, and he sported a clean cut beard with dark jaw length hair.

Oh damn.... Wait is this-.

The man towered over you, 'I'm Luitenant John Wick, I'm here to shadow you in this case'.

'Shadow? Are you working with me?'

'Yes, but I'd like to see how you operate'.

What the fuck!?

You bite your tongue and point behind you, 'female, caucasian and in her mid twenties', you led him over to the forensic group who were still huddled around Jane Doe, 'they're going to identify cause of death back at the lab'.

'Hmmm, so you've already checked the perimeter around?'

'Yeah? Of course, why're you-'.

'I'll have a look as well'.

What the hell is wrong with this guy?

You try your best to bite your tongue once again as you watch the Lieutenant roam around. You weren't the one who had gone and checked, it was mainly the forensics.
You watched the group work away at the body, taking swabs and samples before packing their things. But what stopped them was the Lieutenant, who had called out to them, 'are you aware that there's blood over here? I can't see that it has been touched yet, so I'm taking it you guys have missed it'.

Oh this motherfucker!

Your team were professional and he just stomped on them like they were just cockroaches.
You shove your hands in your pocket and watch as one of the lab interns take the sample and you're close to swearing at Wick when you note the disappointment on his face.

You're only here to shadow me, so don't get angry at my team!

The experience with the Lieutenant was off to a great start and you weren't looking forward to the future with this man. You'd rather get shot in the foot than to be with him.

'Anything interesting?'

Was the first thing you say as you enter the lab. There are two forensic anthropologists hunched over the body.

'Lovely to see you too (Y/N)'.

Angela Flint straightens up and gives you a wide smile, 'I haven't seen you in a while, so I assumed you quit', you roll your eyes at the comment, 'no, the Captains' been keeping me on my toes, but now i'm all free... Except for having this case- by the way how's the body going?'
The second anthropologist stood up, 'I mean... It's dead, it can't be any better than it was before on site?'
Maximus Bailey was the eldest in the forensics team and to you, he was the heart of the job.
He took his gloves off and shuffled over to the computer, 'I also heard about the Lieutenant that's come into the Department, you've met him yet?'

'Yes... He's an asshole'.

'Wow, and you've only met him once and in such a short amount of time'.

Maximus couldn't help but chuckle and you wouldn't blame him for finding this situation amusing.

'What does he look like?'

Angela had continued on with the examination and you leaned against one of the stable counters, 'well... I have to admit he's kind of cute you know? Dark long hair, a good beard... Tall'.

Maximus scoffed, 'wow, he sounds amazing', you roll your eyes before flipping the finger.
You weren't able to say anything else when the swinging doors that you had come through previously, opened up.
John stood at the entrance to the lab and you looked over to Angela, signalling that this was the Lieutenant and It was clear that she found him attractive.

'Miss Flint? Mr Bailey?'

'Yes?'

Both forensic anthropologists said in unison and you can't help but smile but you were quick to hide it when Wick looks in your direction.

'I didn't know that cooling down was allowed in the Department?'

Oh fuck you!

You stand up slowly but keep your mouth shut because you didn't want to humiliate yourself anymore than you have been before.
You had done some homework on Wick and you're quite impressed. He worked hard to get where he was and you knew that it wasn't a walk down easy lane. So you couldn't help but admire him... But only for that, right now? He was an asshole.

'What're the updates?'

He approached Angela and you can tell how tense she gotten, just like you, she was smaller than him.

'Uh... Blunt force truama to the head, but the cause of death was a result in a broken neck'.

'Just tell me that the victim died from a broken neck'.

You felt embarrassed for Angela as she seemed to withdraw, clearly regretting her thoughts about him, 'oh uh, yeah sorry about that'.
Maximus looked back at the Lieutenant, clearly annoyed by the older mans' attitude, 'you're new here aren't you? Lieutenant Wick?'
Wick turned to him and Maximus mirrored his stance, 'you can talk to me whilst we go through this case'.

'Understood'.

You could feel the tension between the men and you ended up breaking the silence with a cough, 'alright... Well, what about the ID on the victim?' You moved over to Angela just to make sure she was okay. She seemed to bounce back quickly, 'victims' name is Stacey Falcon, twenty-five years old, newly graduated Gerald State University, and she lives alone'.

'Wow, only twenty-five, isn't that when your whole life comes together?' You moved over to the monitor when the victims' photo showed.

'That's not important right now, we need to go and talk to the family'.

Wick said and you purposely ignored him, 'I wonder what she studied-'.

'Detective'.

You decide to stop fooling around and follow him out, 'alright, Stacey Falcon', you flicked through the extra ID.

'Frank and Alice Falcon, they actually live near the university'.

Wick didn't respond to you, guess he's not the talkative type, this was something you'd have to get use to.
