My dad stumbles while turning to me. My mouth falls open in confusion. Then realization washes over me.

He's drunk. He never drinks, only on special occasions. I rush to help him but he swats me away.

I am persistent in trying to help him. He keeps backing away at every attempt but leaves me to avail.

He shouts something I couldn't clarify, and falls to the ground after hitting a table.

I scurry towards him and help him up.
Once he's standing he yells in anger.

He shoves me to the ground and I'm on my bottom. Pain grows in my body.

I stare at him in disbelief, and scramble up. Regret is written all over his face.

When he tries to come towards me I back away. I shake my head and run out the door.

My side bumps into Holly. She gives me a sad face and tries to grab my arm but I pull away.

Brent is still in the drive way in his car. He hops out and runs to me. I run in the opposite direction down the road.

I just need to get away. I hear my friends shouting at me telling me to stop.

I've been running for almost 10 minutes. Finally my friends just let me go. I had no idea where I was going until I noticed I was at the park.

My favorite place to go when I was little with my dad. A small weak smile grows on my face.

I walk over to the swings, where my dad used to push me. A tear rolls down my face.

Right now I wish I could go back in time. Back to when he would play with me, push me on the swings, read me bed time stories. I miss all of that.

But I know we can't. We can't go back in time. We won't go back to the way we were because people change. We changed.

Nothing will go back to being normal. Everything happens for a reason.

I stay for what feels like an eternity. I check my phone and it reads 3:27AM. Nineteen missed calls and forty-seven text messages.

Most from Brett, Holly and my father. I also have a few from my other friends.
I unlock my home screen as I receive a phone call from the police station.

I answer it knowing that if I don't.... who knows what would happen?

"Hello?"

"Hello is this Sarah-"

"Yes it is, I'm just out for a walk. No need to worry."

"Ok ma'am would you please tell me what happend?"

I explain everything about my father and mother. Once I'm finished he understands and asks me to come back to my house, there are many people looking for me.

I head home and arrive in 20 minutes.
Once I get to my street I see cars parked in front of my house.

At least fifteen cars.

Wow. I smile at this and walk across my lawn and peek through the glass by the front door.

So many people in my kitchen pacing around with worried looks on their faces. I head around the house and climb up my tree house.

I jump from there to my window and open it. I slide into my room without making a sound.

I change into comfortable pajamas and quickly text Danny:

Sarah: Danny I'm up stairs in my room, come up quietly..xx

Danny: OMG SARAH?!?! ARE YOU OK?!?! OMG IM ON MY WAY!!xx

A minute later she walks in and literally jumps on me giving me a hug.

I start crying in her arms. We talk quietly until I fall asleep in my bed. Forgetting everything and letting go
