Saturday 12:12 pm

You sit in your bed watching a random series on Netflix when you get a text message. You look over to your phone and pick it up to see a notification from Mina.

Mina: Get up loser we're going shopping my hair appointment is almost done so 😗

You: Mina I'm still in my pajamas 🧍

Mina: Then hurry 🤨

Mina: And I'm driving so leave your car keys

You: Absolutely not 😟

Mina: Whatttt

Mina: I'm an EXCELLENT driver 🙄

Mina: I'm offended you would say such things Y/n 🤨

You: You crashed into 5 poles the first week you got your license

Mina: We don't need to bring that up 😑

Mina: You act like I'm gonna kill us both when I drive

Mina: Okay I see ur point BUT HURRY UP BABES IM ALMOST THERE

You laugh to yourself and get out of bed and take a shower. After your shower you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror. Your eyes wander slowly to your chest. You turn to the side hoping that they would be unnoticeable but you still see your breasts through your towel. You've been taking testosterone for a bit but it hasn't been long enough to make any noticeable changes. You put on your underwear and double sports bra and take out your laptop.

2 days. Your binder comes in 2 days so you can finally have the flat chest you want.

You started your transition a couple weeks ago. You haven't really told anyone but your older brother. Your older brother is the one who ordered the chest binder for you in the first place. And offered for him to have it delivered to his house so you didn't have any uncomfortable questions from anyone.

You haven't come out to Mina yet because you were worried for her reaction. She's your favorite person. You like the way she smiles, How she does her hair, How she jokes around and makes you always feel better. You definitely don't have a crush on her though. You realized. Today would be a good time to tell your best friend that your trans.

You finish getting dressed and check the time. 1:13 pm. Mina would be picking you up right about now so you head out towards the back of UA where the parking lot is. You see Mina's car pull into the parking lot and hear

"Y/NNNNNN" Mina says excitedly

"MINAAAAAA" You also say matching her energy.

Mina gets out of the car and runs toward you arms outstretched. She gives you a tight hug. "How are you babes" She releases you and sets her forehead on yours.

"I'm good I'm good" you say "Your hair is AMAZING"

"I try I try" She says jokingly as she puts her hand on her hair.

"Ok." You say with a half serious half joking tone "Keys" You outstretched your hands and motion for her keys

"What! You were serious?" Mina asks playfully shocked

"Yes now give me the keys" You say while laughing

"I got here all safe and by myself" Mina says in a joking tone as she hands you her keys

You playfully roll your eyes at her and walk towards the drivers side of her car and you two drive off towards the mall.

You and Mina walk along the side walk with 2 bags in your hand and a drink in the other.

"I'm a guy" You pause and look at Mina.

"What?"

"I'm trans Mina and I go by he/they pronouns now"

There was a pregnant pause. You wanted her to say something. Anything.

She doesn't say anything but wraps you in a tight hug.

"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" She asks you in your ear while still hugging you "You know I love you either way"

You pull away. "Babes that's the problem we have 2 different types of love for each other"

"Y/n what-" Mina starts to say

"Name. I go by name." You cut her off. You thought coming out to your best friend would be easier to do but you were still a nervous wreck. Mina wouldn't be the type to ever discriminate against you, but you knew that your relationship wasn't going to be the same. Mina loves you as a friend and that's all you ever were to her. "I don't know Mina I just thought that it wouldn't be the sa—" This time Mina cuts you off.

She takes your hand. "Name you could be a mouse for all I care. I love you and I always have ever since we've met nothing will ever change that" She cups your face and strokes it with her manicured thumb for a bit then takes your hand again.

Mina looks up at the sky "It looks like it's about to rain and I'll be damned if I'm fucking up my silk press today" You both laugh and make your way over to the car.

You two made it in time because it stars pouring as soon as you two get in the car. You drive as some random pop artist plays kn the radio when Mina says

"Name, when you said we have two different types of live for each other...what did you mean?"

Shit. You didn't exactly expect to come out and confess your feelings for your best friend in the same day. "It's nothing Mi—"

"Name... please?" She asks with a bit of hurt im her voice. You didn't want for it to seem like you didn't want to be her friend anymore in fact the opposite. You wanted to just tell her and kiss her like in a cheesy romcom.

But you aren't in a romcom. This isn't the Kissing Booth and you could keep a friend or lose her forever

You slowed to a stop due to traffic. You take a deep breath and turn slowly to her.

"It's nothing I promise" You say calmly.

"I like you" The words blurted our so fast you almost didn't catch them the first time she said it.

"...What?"

"Name I like you like LIKE you like you and I never said anything because I love how our friendship is already and—" Mina says before you cut her off with a kiss.

You both have kissed other partners, but never each other. It felt different. But it felt right. You two don't pull away until you hear a car horn honk. You break away to see traffic has cleared up a bit so now you can move.

You take a small breath and smile while driving off.
