As the light shining from her wand disappears, Y/N can see expressions of shock on Dumbledore and Lupin's faces. The two of them look at each other, wide eyed.
"Please tell me that worked." Y/N says to them as they look back at her.
"Remus, are you remembering the same thing I am?" Dumbledore asks.
He nods.
"Sit down, Y/N."
Y/N sits in the chair. "Professor, what's going on?"
Dumbledore looks to Lupin, giving him a nod to signal that he should take the lead.
"Yes well, this is about your parents, Y/N."
"Yes, Sirius made that very clear when he saw the picture in my locket."
Dumbledore continues. "Y/N, do you remember what we told you when you first arrived at Hogwarts? About how we found you?"
"Yes, it was because of a prophecy in a book. It said that I was froz-"
"It lied to Hagrid, Y/N. You were never frozen in time." Lupin explains. "You were forgotten."
Y/N feels confused as they continue to explain further into her story. She feels like air is being taken from her lungs, like the blood is being drained from her body.
"Your parents are no muggles, Y/N. Their memories have just been taken from them."
"That doesn't make any sense, Headmaster. They've been muggles my whole life."
Dumbledore stops her. "Not your whole life, just most of it."
He looks to Professor Lupin. "Normally, I would go myself for a job with such importance. However, I should deal with it here, Remus. Deal with it here and at the ministry. So I'm sorry to say that I'm asking you to do it. Will you accompany her home tomorrow and return their memories, Remus? I realize that you no longer work here, but-"
"Of course, Albus. I'll stay here one more night and then leave on tomorrow's train."
"Excuse me, but don't you think you should tell me what's going on?" Y/N asks, feeling as though they forgot she was there.
"I'll explain everything to you and your parents tomorrow, Y/N. For now, you should just be getting ready to go home."
