I mentioned adding the extended description, but decided not to as it would lead to all of you getting to know a lot. So just dive in. :3

She handed me a red velvet cupcake.

That's what she did everyday at the end of her shift, when I visit her. Marnie always had a sense of distate towards all things sweet, but her petite body and Crimson locks of hair made her look like a little sweet child.

When I first met her, I laughed at her name.

She was wiping her hands with a cloth and retreating back into the kitchen, probably to get her bag as I hogged down the considerably small cupcake.

She said that this was the least she could give me out of what she has to bake with the other workers, and I was pretty contempt with what I got.

When she came back outside though, she didn't talk. She didn't tell me about the new song she just heard, or how my hairs a mess. She wasn't alright, but I decided not to dwell on it.

I kept in mind not to ask her if it was the time of the month, I very well knew how she would react.

Last time, she had smashed a cupcake onto my head and actually put whip cream over it. She didn't talk to me until I sent a jar of Nutella to her (she seemed to like this sweet stuff though) through her little brother.

Who, in fact, kind of disliked me. For a long time, I thought he hated me because I was dating his sister, but I found out farther later that it was because of my good grades.

He was smaller, really smaller than me, but he somehow ended up being in the same grade as Marnie and me.

Marnie told me that he had been studying as hard as ever after I had scored higher than everyone.

'You barely even look like you're interested in your studies. How the hell do you get to the top every single time?'

I remember the stricken look on Josh's face when I was showing my A+ off to Marnie.

today, Marnie just went out the door leading me on to follow her out to my car. I gave her a look and opened the door to the front seat as she sat inside.

"Something wrong Marn? " I carefully asked, starting the car. She waved a hand at me clearly stating her disinterest in sharing her thoughts. So I shut up and drove out to Marnie's house.

What's wrong with her?

I hadn't seen marnie since one whole week, though we were pretty chill and didn't bombard each other with numerous phone calls and texts, it couldn't always be her with nothing to talk about. What was happening?

She was constantly tugging at the rims of her sleeves, it looked like she was trying to hide something without looking suspicious, but she very well did. When she got up to leave, she didn't notice her scarf and stepped out, instantly getting struck by the sudden, cold, wind. I quickly stepped out the car and grabbed the scarf as I did. I went to her and wrapped it around her shoulders, slightly rubbing to let the friction keep her warm. "Marnie," I never really called Marnie, Marnie. It had always been Marn, Marns, nie-nie, or probably even Marno. She looked at me now .

Her eyes showed the surprise of her name coming out of my lips.

"what's wrong huh?" her nose and cheeks were turning pink in the cold, she even looked like she slightly shivered, but she answered in a solid tone.

"Sorry Asher, just a little, tired you know?" I nodded, but I wasn't at all convinced.

She wasn't tired. She couldn't be, she is always so preppy, even if she was feeling down, she would burst it out, and cool her self down, getting back to her happy self.

I nodded. "Okay." I decided not to push further. "take care yeah?"

she nodded meekly and rushed inside, but it didn't seem like she was running away from the cold, It just looked like she wanted to get away from me.
