1 of 3 parts: caspar finds out that he has cancer but won't tell joe.
-
Joe ran towards the noise of puking that came from Caspar's bathroom. When he got there, he saw Caspar lent over the toilet seat, coughing and wheezing heavily; his face was all pale and tears stained his face.

"Shh, shh. Have you finished being sick?" Joe asked softly, Caspar simply nodded and carried on coughing.

Joe quickly ran back upstairs, grabbed a plastic bin and placed it by the side of Caspar's bed and led him back to his room where he got back into bed.

"You can be sick in there so you don't have to run to the toilet, ok?" Joe embraced Caspar in a hug before retreating back to his own room.

-
Later that night, Joe woke up once again to Caspar being sick and coughing; he felt really bad for him.

"Caspar.. Do you want me to ring A&E so we can go tonight? You know, just incase it is something serious." Joe walked into Caspar's room, clutching his phone.

"Y-yeah ple-please." Caspar stuttered and laid back down, breathing heavily.

Joe picked up the bin and was going to tip it away, when he noticed someone red mangled within his sick.

As he looked closer, he clearly saw blood. Joe widened his eyes, walking even slower towards the toilet; he flushed the sick away, quickly returning to Caspar.

"Hey, I- um. Well, I was going to flush the sick away when I saw blood in your sick. I'll call A&E now." Joe said to Caspar, quickly dialling the number and making an appointment.

-
"Caspar Lee, please." The nurse popped her head round the door and smiled at Joe and Caspar, who stood up and made their way over to her room.

"Right, so I assume that it was Joe here who called for the appointment?" The nurse spoke as she looked at Joe.

He nodded and she carried on talking to him and Caspar.

"Ok well, i'm looking through the files here about puking up blood and i'd like to ask Caspar a few questions please, alone?" She turned to Joe once again, watching him slowing stand up and walk out the room.

"Why can't he stay? He is my best friend and he helped me through all of this." Caspar explained to the nurse.

"These are personal questions, my dear. Now, when was the last time you had any alcohol?"

Caspar responded, saying a few days ago and the nurse went on with the rest of the questions. She started to tap away at her computer again, leaving Caspar waiting anxiously in the room. Joe stood in the waiting room, pacing up and down and running his hands through his hair every so often.

"Well from what you have told me and what I can see on my screen here." The nurse spoke, Caspar leaned forward slightly. "You seem to have stomach cancer. I'm terribly sorry."

Caspar froze and a single tear dropped from his eye.

No, no no no no
This can't be happening
Please tell me i'm dreaming
I can't be dying.

He thanked the nursed and retreated out if the room, walking straight past the waiting room and to the reception, making another appointment for his scan.

"Caspar wait!" Joe ran up go Caspar, just as he had finished making the appointment. He didn't want Joe to find out yet.

"Is everything ok?" Joe walked along side Caspar as they walked back to Joe's car.

Caspar nodded and asked Joe to unlock the car and when he did, he quickly climbed in and starting to breath louder and slower.

"Please tell me what happened, I care about you." Caspar ignored Joe and just sat still, staring at the hospital in front of him.

"Ok fine, lets just go home." Joe started the car and drove them back to their shared house, speeding up at times as he was quite tired.
When they got back home, Caspar got out of the car, unlocked the front door and speedily walked inside. Joe followed, closing the door behind him and stopping in his place.

"Caspar! Will you please tell me what is going on!?" Joe exclaimed, folding his arms and staring at him.
Caspar spun around, looking at Joe before replying to him slowly.

"Just, don't worry. It- it doesn't matter, ok?" Caspar said back, his tone soft and gentle.

"I want to know! I care 'bout you!" Joe shouted, taking a step towards Caspar. This caused Caspar to grit his teeth and stand up straighter, looking down at Joe.

"Just tell me, fucking hell! It could be really important and then I won't ever, ever find ou-"

"I'm dying!" Caspar shouted over the top of him, causing Joe to stop talking and stare wide-eyed at Caspar.

"You-you what?" Joe chocked on his own spit as he heard the words come out of his mouth.

Caspar sighed as tears started to form in his eyes.

"I have stomach cancer Joe. And I don't know how long I have left. I booked a scan for next week so they should tell me then, i'm sorry."

Joe let tears fall from his eyes as Caspar embraced him in a hug, as he just kept whispering the words 'no' over and over again.
He wrapped his arms around the taller boy, both crying into to each others shoulders.

The words kept going round and round in Joe's brain.

Caspar's going to die.
My best friend.
The person that I cared about will be gone.
Gone in a matter of days.
Forever.
