300 Years Ago;

There exist Three Major Empire in the Old world. They are; The Old Moniyan Empire, The Once Thriving Kingdom in what is now the Barren Lands, and lastly, The Old Empire.

The Old Empire was, for it's time, the greatest trading and naval Empire ever to exist in The Land of Dawn. It's building tall and grand, it's land fertile and lush, it's people kind and generous. The empire physically, spiritually and mentally scream harmonious and peace. Alas, this empire would fall to the Abyss, with the help of their Ancient Enemy, The Swarm of Zhask.

Now the empire is only remembered is songs and tales of old, one such;

Dark is the water of Tasik Tobä,
and cold are the springs of Kenyír,
and fair were the many-pillared halls of Parameswára in Elder Days,
before the fall of mighty kings that sails The Great Sea.

The Old Empire's history is not now known, for it has been destroyed by time or on purpose. And any remaining records were hidden by the Ancients that lived in the Old Empire's territory. Thus only some is known about the Empire;

As a bustling international trading port, The Old Empire emerged as a centre for religious learning and dissemination, and encouraged the development of the Olde language, literature and arts. It heralded the golden age of Southeastern sultanates in the archipelago, in which the Olde language became the lingua franca of Maritime Trade and the Olde script became the primary medium for cultural, religious and intellectual exchange.

It is through these intellectual, spiritual and cultural developments, the Old era witnessed the establishment of the National Identity (which is now largly forgotten), the Edification of the region and the subsequent formation of an "Alam Tenggara" (Alam is the word for Realm, while Tenggara was the region that the Empire lies in).

After 300 years, the capital of the Old Empire fell to the Abyssal Forces and the Swarm of Zhask (the latter an Ancient Enemy of the Old Empire), killed the last Grand Sultan, Mahmud Shah III, and forcing the remaining nobles to retreat to the further reaches of the empire, where they either lived in hiding, or died out alone. The political and cultural legacy of the Empire remains to this day. For centuries, the Old Empire has been held up as an exemplar of Tenggara civilisation.

It established systems of trade, diplomacy, and governance that persisted well into the current centuries, and introduced concepts such as daulat - a distinctly Tenggara notion of sovereignty - that continues to shape contemporary understanding of Tenggara kingship. The fall of the Old Empire benefited The Vonetis Islands when its ports became a new entrepôt as the kingdoms emerged as a new trade center in Maritime Trade, attracting many traders who fled from the Abyssal raid.

Other than that, not much else is known about the Old Empire. As the Empire falls apart, many smaller states started to appear and fights each other for trade and domination.

Most people remember not of the Fallen Lands. It connects from the Northern Vale, and headed so far North it became South. One of the larger Island, Sumatra, is south of the Vonetis Islands. Back in the Glory Days, it was the crossroad of the World. The once thriving Barren Lands would trade resources with the Old Monitan Empire. Sometimes however, instead of going through lands, they will sail the Great Sea. And, instead of wasting time and resources going around the Land of Dawn, they would go through the Strait of The World to quickly get to The Moniyan Ports.
