"I... I lost?" Lucifer whispered in complete shock as the boy in front of her smirked proudly, the girl on the speakers cheering for his triumphant finish. The demoness dropped to her knees in exhaustion, sulking in defeat, as her companion rushed to her side and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Luci... are you okay?" He asked her anxiously. Lucifer nodded in response, looking back up at him with an unsure smile. "Yes, yes, Ruv. I'm alright.."
The two looked up, seeing as the small couple walked away out of the church. Ruv glared in their direction as he clenched his fist.
"Should I..-" "No, no, let them be. There's no way they'll join... this is my price to pay for being so pushy and persistent.."
The two sat in silence for a moment, watching as the couple disappeared into the distance. Lucifer broke the silence with a weak laugh. "Heh, I suppose we should go clean up now, shall we?" She asked, giving a small smile to Ruv. He nodded and hummed, then helped the demoness up. She returned to her normal form, and they walked off to go clean up their mess.
...
It was a few hours after the chaos, and Ruv and Sarvente were in their bedroom. Ruv sitting in the bed as Sarvente was looking down in her closet. Ruv snuck a few glances at the woman, his shallow heart filled with sympathy. He could tell she was deeply upset, but she refused to say anything, typical Sarvente behavior.
"Sarv? You've been standing there for a bit now... is everything a'ight?"
Sarvente glanced at Ruv with a glare, sending slight shivers down his spine and he immediately shut his mouth. She walked over to him, her hands were trembling in anger.
"No, Ruv. Everything is not 'a'ight.' I was tasked with gaining my 100th member TODAY, and did I accomplish that goal? NO! I even brought LUCIFER out for Heaven's sake! ...Now they'll truly never let me through the gates now.." She vented to Ruv. Ruv blinked in shock and Sarvente sat down next to him on the bed, looking down sadly.
"Ruv... all I wanted was to show my worth to Jehovah, Mecara, and all the other angels... but I..I failed them.." Her voice started to break a bit. Ruv gasped lightly as Sarvente grabbed onto his sweater and hid her face in his chest, sobbing quietly.
"E-even after they gave me a second chance after all these centuries... I still... still couldn't prove myself worthy... h-how pathetic is that?" She whimpered. Ruv hugged her tightly and rubbed her back in circles to comfort her, as taught from Lucifer.
"Even if you couldn't prove worthy to them... you still prove worthy to me, our children, and all of Hell that stands before you." He told her as he broke the hug, wiping her tears off of her face. She looked up at him with wide eyes.
"Just because some incompetent Lord refuses to see your efforts to climb into his 'tranquil and solicitous' sanctuary, doesn't mean you should give up. If love and peace is what you desire, don't depend on someone who doesn't see you needing of such. Instead, look for the others who'll truly care no matter your blood."
Sarvente cracked a soft smile at Ruv's half-successful attempts at cheering her up. She gave him a small peck on the lips and pulled him into another hug.
"Thanks, Ruvvy..."
Too bad his efforts to calm her would be shown useless in the endgame..
An hour later, Ruv was peacefully asleep in his room, and Sarvente was nervous as all hell.
"Oh shoot, oh shoot.. I'm so fucked..." She muttered to herself as she walked in circles. Then she took a deep breath. "Keep it together, Sarvente. This is your fault, it's your price to pay, you must stop being a coward..."
After that, she sighed and closed her eyes, using her powers to conjure up a portal. "Well then..." she whispered.
She took a step into the portal and looked back, gazing at her sleeping husband, and she let out a sad sigh. "See you soon, mon amour..."
...
She soon found herself in Heaven, or at last... what was left of it. The entire place was in ruins after the disappearance of the original ruler.
She looked on in sorrow as she walked through the gates, until she reached the palace, where the two boys stayed.
She took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself for what would come next.
She opened the doors, and slowly walked inside..
