It's been a boring day at Woodsboro High School for Tara Carpenter. It's bad enough that Tara has yet to fall asleep after watching the first season of Euphoria. The last thing she wants to be present for is school. The three classes she has been in is boring the shit out of her. Except for fourth period, that is. Where she sees her enemy since the first grade, Amber Freeman.
It's not like Tara necessarily dislikes Amber; she dislikes the things she does, say, or even exist. Amber has always been very short with her. It's as if Amber has more important stuff to do. God, how she wishes she disliked Amber. Unfortunately, Tara could never hate Amber. Even if Amber's the one who poured milk over her head in Freshmen year. Maybe it's the way Mindy flat out called Amber out, and all she did was smirk and walk away. Maybe it's the way Tara found that to be so fucking attractive in a way she can't quite comprehend.
Amber Freeman is so hot to Tara Carpenter.
It's the way Amber's long, dark hair covers her shoulders with waves that could go on for days. Maybe it's that cute little freckle on her cheekbone that Tara adores so much. Or maybe it's the way Amber carries herself. It's the way Amber would stand there and say absolutely nothing to someone when they're being belligerent to her. It's the way Amber leans against the lockers during free period to people watch. Tara has noticed that Amber tends to stand in the halls on Tuesday's and Friday's to watch people. Tara isn't quite sure if she's seeing things, but she swears she's seen Amber glance at her a few times.
So, yeah. Amber is someone who has had a significant part in Tara's childhood and teenage years. Tara has to admit that Amber definitely is her gay awakening before watching Shake it Up on Disney Channel and admiring Zendaya. But, hey! It's been a blessing because Tara has learned that men are creepy and trashy. Maybe except for Chad and Wes. Those are her two babies that she can't ever hate.
Wes has made it clear since fifth grade that he's had a crush on her. Tara would be lying if she said she never thought about it because she knew he'd bring the comfort into the relationship. There was always one thing, or person, holding that relationship back from blooming into something more than friends. Of course, it's Amber. Tara can't seem to get her out of her mind, while Amber can't seem to stop making fun of her and Wes. It's shitty due to the fact Tara saw Wes cry one time after Amber's segment of belittling them. It's kinda funny that Tara didn't feel bad at all. But hey, that's okay when you're gay.
"Tara!"
Tara is snapped out of her thoughts as she glances up away from her locker, watching Wes push past students walking to their other class. The boys' newly bleached hair, making it lighter than his natural blonde, is set in place as he finally reaches her.
"I've been looking for you," Wes comments breathlessly as he leans against his knees, trying to catch his breath.
Tara messes around in her locker, "I've been here."
"I see." Wes runs his fingers through his short hair, "Chad, Mindy, and Liv have been wondering if we were going to watch Stab 8 soon."
"You know I hate horror movies. It glorifies crimes, murders, and even arson!" Tara says with a scoff as she closes her locker, gently before turning back to Wes, "I really don't want to watch that."
Wes nods, "Yeah... me either.. stupid horror movies."
Tara stares at him for a few seconds before her expression deadpans, "You want to watch it, don't you?"
"Hear me out," Wes begins, "We watch it, you and I cuddle, Chad and Liv make out, and Mindy gets to watch the film that's based on events involving her uncle dying. Sounds like a win-win to me."
Tara rolls her eyes as she glances around Wes's body to see the one and only Amber walking out of the bathroom to stand by her usual spot for free period to people watch. Tara doesn't notice the way Amber's eyes trail onto her and Wes with interest.
