The Cinema - A Michael Jackson Fanfic

I sighed as I grabbed a broom and bag from the cinema storage cupboards. Working night shifts at this place was absolute hell, it was like people had no damn respect anymore! The amount of empty wrappers and popcorn cornels I have picked up in my time really is incredible. I hated this stupid job, and I wanted out of it as soon as possible.

I made my way to cinema number 7 to bump into my colleague and friend Taylor. She was checking out for tonight, meaning I had to clean up a whole cinema by myself.

'Pretty sure everyone is out! Go in there and work your magic' she winked at me as I rolled my eyes and headed into the auditorium.

The credits were still faintly rolling in the background as I made my way up a step and filtered through the rows and rows of lonely seats, picking up old chocolate bar wrappers and holding them at arm's length whilst depositing them in a bag.

'Ew!' I murmured to myself as I grabbed an apple core from lodged in a chair. The credits behind me stopped, but a faint light from the screen was still shining as usual, helping me find my way around easily. Or at least I thought the credits had stopped. I could hear a muffled noise, but I couldn't quite make it out. Thinking nothing of it, I climbed a couple more steps and continued sweeping the flooring underneath the seats. Because the sound had faded, I took extra care into what I was doing so I could keep alert. You could never be too safe in these places. As I leaned forwards to grab a coke bottle, the light from behind me snapped off in an instant, making me jump out of my skin.

'Fuck!' I yelped.

I was clearly taking too long being a cleaner for their liking, and the projection had flicked off. Stupid asshats, I thought. This wasn't the first time. I can't even see! I fumbled around the steps, trying to work out where I was.

'I don't get paid enough for this shit' I mumbled.

Almost on cue, a cough broke into my grumbling.

'It's rude to curse'.
