In all his years as a fire dog, Doug thought he had seen it all. Large house fires, warehouses burning down, and even a car melting down as it was engulfed in flame.

But never had he seen a fire like the one right in front of him. It was a massive ball of green flame that draped over the large once pure white building. It was right outside the city of London, which was already a bad sign if his station received the call. Then again, so did at least ten other stations judging from the amount of emergency vehicles surrounding the building.

He sat in the truck watching as the human firefighters scrambled for their equipment. They started spraying the strange fire with their hoses. But it seemed to spread more.

Humans in charred white suits appeared from the building, some having to be carried out by their comrades. Medics rushed over to grab the injured. An officer raced over to one man who wasn't injured and began asking questions.

Doug could barely pick up their conversation over the roar of the flames and chaotic shouting.

"Anybody..?" The officer asked.

The white suited man shook his head. "No... made it." The officer nodded and escorted the man to the outer perimeter. Doug turned his attention back to the flames. His instincts are screaming at him to run and hide. But he held firm. He was a rescue dog and he would be ready to assist in any way possible.

The ground began to shake violently. Some of the emergency personnel fell onto their knees while the rest held onto something to stay upright.

The green dome of flames exploded outward, sending anyone who was still standing off their feet. Doug was knocked back into the truck. Several smaller cars were tossed into the air. What was left of the building was now a crater.

Doug didn't know if he hit his head hard enough, but he swore he saw dozens of shapes fly above the flames and disappear into the night. But he pushed that thought aside, he was needed.

The dalmatian jumped from the truck and began assisting his team by getting them away from the flames.

He never noticed a small dalmatian puppy, black as the night sky, as it slipped through the perimeter and jumped onto the roof of the ambulance. All without making a sound. The ambulance blared its siren and raced off back toward London. None of the humans on board were aware of their stowaway.

Delilah was used to a busy hospital. There have been days where a pub brawl went out of control and the people involved had to be taken in for stitches, and there were times where multiple cars were involved in an accident and the victims needed immediate treatment. Today was an extreme version of those kinds of days. Dozens of beds were filled with injured menand women in white suits were brought in by the ambulance crews. Apparently, a large facility caught fire and dozens were injured. Her heart sank when she learned that many more never escaped the blaze. She could only hope her darling husband was alright.

If she wasn't so busy, she'd use the World Wide Woof to send him a message. She already used it to inform Dylan that she'd be back late, and that was when she was allowed to go outside and do her "business."
