"I'm so sorry about them." Ella sighed as she looked at Portia and Alex who were screaming and shouting as they dashed off to the playground. Everything around them seemed to attract them, from the grass to stores to people around them. They kept on saying hi to strangers and didn't seem to mind them. Either they were too extrovertist or it was because they were isolated their whole lives. And Ella always kept on apologizing and Ella was so lucky that they seemed to understand. But at the other hand she deeply questioned herself for bringing her three kids to a heavily populated area. She had many mistakes in her life, but she was going to create a really embarrassing one.
"Portia!" Ella yelled as she started running to find the pink and raven children. "Come back here!"
"Guys, please! Stop here! Portia, Alex!"
No matter how much begging she did the children either ignored her or was too excited by the surroundings around them that they tuned her out or probably the fact that the sounds of cars, people pushing, and the crossroads were loud for them to hear her. Either way she was so going to make them put in a timeout. Probably even making them do the damage they did for a whole month. But her thoughts suddenly burst when she saw the bright hairs running to a lot of children.
"Wait no-" Ella saw as Portia and Alex started to play with the little kids at the playground. Ella gasped as she tried to run to them and wanted to drag them out, but they seemed to have fun, plus she was so tired from running then again there were also lots of people staring at her. And it was embarrassing when they were smiling at her or making faces. Even though Ella has been outside, it was a long time ago, and the only way she got supplies was from her Teleporter. So mainly she forgot how to talk to people even though she was an Extrovert.
Ella was really tempted to bury herself in the ground and hopes she wouldn't be able to see another human being again, and she was about to take a step when she heard laughter not from the children but her children. Ella's eyebrows shot up when she saw Portia and Alex laughing and chasing the other children around, and they seemed to be fun too, trying to slow down for them.
Suddenly in the speed of light, everything felt like it was slowed, and she felt a warm feeling around her, that felt like her children were hugging her. It must have been that it was snowy and it's because her body was trying to absorb as much heat as it can find. But something was telling her it was more than that. So much more than that.
Ella's lips twitched to a smile when she saw Portia swinging on the swings, while Alex was playing with a little girl and they seemed to be having fun. Like how Ella would have imagined
When Ella got out of that frenzy she whipped her phone and snapped a picture of the playground, wishing that her phone storage wasn't full so she could cherish that moment forever. Ella tried not to cry as she looked at her children who were having fun, even Jewel was being treated as a lady when some friends went over to Ella and played with Jewel, asking her questions. She felt complete happiness wash over her as she nudged Jewel to walk since she already knows how to. Part of her thinks it was a dream, but if it was she didn't want to wake up in a million years. Portia and Alex were making friends, even Jewel! She was so grateful that they weren't showing their powers jut like she had instructed them. Even if it was sad that they didn't know their secrets it was still amazing that people are friendly. She expected people to gather around and throw stuff at them because they had odd looks, normally people would die to see that or want to wipe them out. But everyone was just smiling at the children were being...well...children.
"Miss?" A voice asked that made her snap back to reality. Ella looked up and met eyes with emerald orbs. "Are you the parent for them?" The man pointed to Portia and Alex who were singing with every other children, and that's when Ella realized that the parents were filming them. "Are you the mother of the the kids?"
Ella nodded. "I am, do you want to picture them? Because you can go ahead..." Even though she wanted to end everything Portia and Alex seemed to have liked it, and Ella was not ruining their chance.
"Oh no!" He held his hands like a stop sign. "I am just simply asking. My kids seem to really like them."
"That's your kids?" Ella asked as she stared at the grey-haired girl who was playing with Alex, and Portia seemed to like the blue-haired guy who was dancing along with her. "Wow, they look beautiful. Want to be friends?" Even though she hadn't talk to anyone in years-especially a man Ella was going to take a risk just for them and if anything goes wrong well...good luck to her.
The man smiled. "Sure! I'm Nathaniel, you?"
"Ella," She told him. "Glad to meet you."
When they both were about to touch Ella felt a slight warm feeling at her hand for a second, then she pulled away. "Sorry, my hands are freezing right now."
Nathaniel chuckled. "No need to apologize, and your kids-" He turned to the playground. "They seem to be having fun. What's their names?"
"The girl is Portia and the boy is Alex."
"Who's this little fella?" Nathaniel asked as he stared at Jewel and waved, giving her a big smile. Ella tried to bury the blood that rushed through her face as she patted Jewel.
"This is Jewel. Jewel say hi."
Jewel waved at him and suddenly held her arms out laughing when Ella lost her balance.
"Woah!" Nathaniel yelped as he lost his balance, and Ella embraced for the pain as she clung to Jewel tightly. Then in a second Ella felt arms grabbed her and she channeled strength to her legs and immediately placed her foot in the ground. "You okay?"
Ella nodded and pulled away looking to see if Jewel was hurt or injured, trying not to focus on the fact that her stomach was doing knots in a way that wasn't making her puke.
"You fell for him!" Portia giggled as she appeared out of nowhere. "So you like him! It's true love Alex!"
A laugh slipped through Ella's mouth and shook her head, placing Jewel down to let her arms rest. "And you like that guy?" She pointed to the guy who was talking with Portia. "Seems like you two created a special bond." And it was worth it to see Portia rolling her eyes.
"Mom!" Portia whined as her face flustered and Ella couldn't help it. "Stop it, your gonna make him embarrassed!"
"Who's his name?" Ella asked Nathaniel.
"Star-bright," He replied. "And you must be Portia?"
"Yes!"
"That's a nice name. Very nice to meet you Portia."
"Thank you! You are very kind! Mom, can Star-Bright visit out house? Please!" Portia added when Ella shook her head. "He's my first friend and aren't you bothered by the people?" She pointed to the people who were still awing at her, and Alex. Portia did have a point, and sometimes Ella wanted to rip her whole hair because kids like her always finds a good point and she was an adult, she was suppose to be scolding them but some part of her was proud of them even though she shouldn't be.
"Fine, he can go. But only for a few hours okay?"
"Can Kiki come too?" Alex asked and Ella realize that he was listening with the whole conversation.
"Yes, she can come too. She's with you right?" Ella turned to Nathaniel, just to be making sure. "Okay then, children pack up your things. We're going."
And hopefully that meant that they were still controlling their powers. Because the last thing she wants was for her children to be in a laboratory and her trying to break them out. But she punched the thought off her mind as she carried Jewel and said goodbye to the kids at the playground before leaving.
