It was in the summer and I was living and working in Lethbridge,AB. I worked for a carpenter that worked for a chain store called Fannie's Fabrics. We worked for a few weeks remodelling a building for a new store in Lethbridge.I was mostly building and installing shelving all through the store. On the last day of the job, the boss told me that he was planning to remodel several rooms at the main store for new offices and also to remodel the basement of the bosses townhouse in Calgary,AB. He asked me if I wanted to go with him to Calgary to work on that job? I agreed and as we had 2 or 3 days left until we were to leave for Calgary, I busied myself preparing for the trip. I had to wash clothes,pack,pick up my check and pay some bills before I left.
On the day before we were to leave, I got out of bed and headed downtown to pick up my check. I got off the bus downtown and walked to the corner and stopped for a red light. While I was waiting, I looked to my left and noticed a car pull up about 3 doors down the street. A little girl got out of the car and the car left. I started across the street and the Lord revealed to me that the door to the Dance studio where the little girl had a class was locked and that she would be afraid ! I was half way across the street when the Lord revealed what was going to happen , I turned around and saw the little girl take her hand off the door handle , turn around and start crying. The Lord then said , go help her. I turned around and started walking toward her and was feeling very humble and incapable ! I said Lord , I don't know what to do . He said , just hold out your hand. I did and the little girl came running. I said, what's the matter , is the door locked ? She nodded her head, Yes. I then noticed a shop on the corner where they sold juice. I asked if she liked juice and she said Yes ! I said , let's go have a juice and someone will be along soon to unlock the door. We ordered and sat down by the window, with a view of the street in front of the Dance studio. Pretty soon a car pulled up and some more kids got out. I asked her if she knew them and if they went to her dance class ? She said Yes , so took her out and handed her over to the Adults with the group, explaining what had happened. I then continued on my way , feeling a tremendous inner Peace and Joy because I knew I had done what my Lord asked me to do .
The following day , the Boss and I went to the Airport, where he had a small Plane parked. We took off and headed for Calgary to work on the next job. There was a lot of turbulence and we had a very rough flight ! I think my stomach was flying higher than I was that day! I was really glad to get to Calgary and land ! The boss said , after the flight that the air along the Rocky Mountains, between Lethbridge and Calgary was some of the roughest air around ! The Christian walk is not smooth sailing all the time, but it gets bumpy sometimes ! We are called not only to experience blessing, but to endure trials also and to walk in the footsteps of Jesus .
