It was a rainy, dreary day. Everything about the world looked sad. The trees drooped and the wind howled and Scarlett cried. She cried because she couldn't stop and the pain was so overwhelming that the only way to relive herself of it was to cry. It was her escape and for once, she was happy she had one.

Sadness was a whole new feeling for Scarlett. In her short 17 years of live, Scarlett had only cried 3 times once she reached the age of 6. Her mother had told her that there was no use in crying over spilled milk and for some reason that stuck with her. She thought of crying as a waste of time, a sign of weakness. If you didn't cry, you were strong.

So Scarlett was strong.

But what her mother didn't tell her, was that if you were strong for too long, you would wear yourself out. Your tiredness would seep through you in the form of tears and everything would come crumbling down all at once.

For Scarlett, everything came crumbling down the day her mother died.
