I looked at his sorrowful eyes as he smiled at me. "Save them I'll hold them off" he smiled more and pushed me over the edge of the cliff we had played here we had camped here would I die here? I questioned in my mind as I fell. I whirled my body around my hair flailing in the wind as the ground grew larger as I approached it. All at once my hands were black razor sharp claws I had red scales and wings that snapped open right as I almost slammed into the river below. Pumping my powerful wings I shot up into the sky it was hues of pink purple and a small hint of orange on the horizon. My head spun around looking for Hazel and I heard a yell from afar beating my wings soaring in the direction of the cry. I pounded my wings as fast as they would go. I dived for the evergreen forest breathing golden flames onto her attacker lashing my tail standing in front of hazel to protect her. The attacker shrieked in utter horror as they thrashed on the forest floor. I Turned looking hazel in the eyes they were beautifully blue like the ocean or a pool I could loose myself in if I stared too long. Bright red scales slipped into my skin letting the human flesh and skin shift into place. My arms immediately around her, her arm was bleeding from a slash from what seemed to be either a knife or jagged rock. The others appeared from the trees injured but ok "Everyone's alive!" Autumn cheered hugging Eve who smiled in response "this damned war is finally over" Oliver muttered but there was relief in his golden eyes. I let myself sink into Hazel's arms placing my hips on hers, and my lips gently onto hers as she ran her hand through my hair her touch gently as a mother to her daughter the kiss was tender but long. I wished I could be swallowed up by the feeling of warmth sprouting from my stomach and through her touch. When something hit me like a mental brick wall and I jumped back "what about Lucas!" I cried panic gripping onto my arms and into my very soul, I shifted once more the crimson scales flashed in the new light of the sun that was rising quickly. In a matter of seconds I was in the air beating my wings harder and faster to reach the cliff where he had been. When I landed I looked around "Lucas!" I shouted the birds silenced everything went silent after I yelled I didn't know where to go. Where was Lucas? Was he ok? Is he alive? Panic enveloped me. I heard my name "Ash!" Lucas screamed panicked or in pain maybe. I rushed towards the scream my heart pounding in my skull as I approached. My heart dropped lick a Boulder in the sea my wings slumped to the dusty ground, tears swelled in my eyes as I stared in disbelief shifting and running to Lucas slumped against a tree an arrow in his chest. "Ahhhhh!!!" I screamed in what felt like agony in my chest shredding me from the inside tears eascaped there little prision behind my eyes. Blood covered my hands now his lifeless eyes stared back at me. "Lucas!!" I screamed "wake up you idiot!!" I half pleaded "you promised that we would save the world together!!" My vision was blurry my face hot with tears "You promised!!" I screamed falling to my knees slamming my fists into the ground crying loudly " I shouldn't have left you!!" I cried my weeps kept the forest silent as if paying there respects for Lucas.
