The bedroom door closed causing Kia to cringe slightly from the loud sound. She looked up, seeing Daniel enter their bedroom.
Rolling her eyes, she turned her attention back to her favorite book Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimanda Ngozi Adiche.
Kia let the elegant prose softly take her to another world before being brought down to her reality with the dip of their doubled-sized bed as Daniel sat down next to her.
They hadn't spoken since Daniel discovered her dress and even their son could sense the tension.
Kia failed to understand how they were fighting over a dress. They had been married for over 10 years for godsake, yet they were arguing over something so trivial that newlyweds would fight over.
Kia tried to concentrate back on her book but she could feel her husband just staring at the side of her face, his broad shoulders heaving as he breathed deeply.
Even though biologically he had the balls in their relationship, she guessed she would be the one to use them today.
Kia shut her book and put it in the oak bookcase that stood beside the bed whilst Daniel watched.
"Talk." She crossed her arms and looked him dead in the chocolate irises of his eyes, feeling strangely empowered.
Daniel sighed deeply. "Well I realise now that I overreacted about the whole dress thing and I mean it is your money so you can keep it."
Kia raised an eyebrow.
Was that all he had to say?
"Okay, I wasn't aware I needed permission but thanks." She said dryly, picking her book back up. If he didn't want to talk about the real issues - she wouldn't force him.
He let out out a deep sigh and snatched her book out of her hands, tossing it on the floor.
"I'm letting you keep your stupid ass dress and you're still mad? What do you want from me?" He growled.
Letting her?
She wanted to shout and cuss him out, loudly, but she didn't want to wake up Tahj In the next room.
Kia looked at him incredulously and he looked back at her with the same expression.
The fact that he didn't even realise how demeaning that statement was made her think that they had alot of work to do.
"Where is the man that I married 10 years ago? Because he would've never spoken to me this way." She whispered angrily, turning onto her side, facing the opposite direction.
The sight of him disgusted her right now.
She felt him wrap his muscular arms around her petite waist, drawing her into his embrace as he buried his face in her neck.
