The Dark Continent ironically isn't very dark nor devoid of life, but is instead covered in huge diverse biomes, such as a huge tundra to the north, or a massive desert to the west, and a large region of what looks like glowing mushrooms to the south.
Then there's the eastern forest region, surrounding the nest of one of the Great Elders, Safi'jiiva. The Red Emperor of Life. The legends of the wyverians say that Forest Lord Safi'jiiva is the most benevolent of the Great Elders, and that monsters can grow and become more powerful by just being near them. This is probably why the forest is separated into multiple regions by strength.
The weakest region is the Outer Region. This is where the forest borders the other 3 regions of our island. The outer forest is not only a gateway, but also a great blocker. Mostly weak small monsters hang around there, like Jagras, and Jaggi and etc. which is why it is the most populated of the forest regions, so every now and then, a stronger monster comes from the inner regions to lower some population, or scare them off. The result is dependent on which monster goes to do the job.
Following the Outer Region is the Inner Region. This is where monsters like Anja, and Ratha's hang around. Its not as chaotic as the outer region, but turf wars do happen often. Rarely you can run into the Elder Class Monsters in this area, but very rarely.
Then we get to the Core Region, the furthest in you can go. This is the region that borders Lord Safi'jiivas nest, and that none are allowed to go further in unless permitted, or if the Lord is resting. The core region is where only the strongest are allowed. Elder Class monsters roam here freely, and are very commonly seen. This is also where the Wyverian village is located. With permission of the Lord himself, we wyverians were allowed to live in the core region, and are protected from monster attack by an Elder Class we allied ourselves with.
Then there is the Forest Lords Nest, the true core of the forest. Most humanoids cant notice it, but as you get further in the forest, you can feel the life energy in the air itself become thicker and more prominent, to the point that if a Jagras somehow made it to the core region, they could rival even a Jho given some time to grow. But when it comes to the Lords Nest, only Elder Class Monsters and Village Elders are allowed inside, as anything weaker wouldn't be able to handle the amount of pressure on their body.
However the reason we wyverians can survive out here is thanks to the Forest Lords Blessing given to our ancestors and passed down with each generation. We wyverians were blessed with the ability to understand monster talk, and its extremely useful. From allowing us to tame and ride some weaker wyverns, to asking the local apex to not enter our territory.
Of course sometimes we cant negotiate with the monsters, most of the time the more irritable ones just ignore us, so we learned to defend ourselves using monster parts from those who don't listen.
Now recently a Bazel has been spotted flying around the area, so a team of hunters has been deployed to investigate its flight path, and make sure we don't have a repeat of last easter.
