The annoying shrill cry of my alarm ripped me from my peaceful slumber.I grabbed my phone and turned it off . Whilst doing that I looked at the top corner of my screen. "8 am , why on earth would I set an alarm for this time!"
Then I saw the day ,"And on a Saturday ! I would never put myself through such a thing! "
All of a sudden something clicked I looked at the date ,third of April . I then looked to my calendar hanging on one of my violet walls. The third of April was circled in red and in bold letters next to it , it wrote ,
'BIRTHDAY DAY'Soon after the realisation hit I felt my phone start to vibrate like mad. My friends had all sent me messages for my birthday.
They all sent me messages along the lines of 'Happy birthday Hope! Have a good one!'
Then I got a message form another one of my guy friends Jackson ,or Jack as we call him . He sent me an invite to his house that afternoon so we could watch a movie with ,my favourite, sweet popcorn and m'nms(that doesn't looks right for some reason) . It was our monthly ritual. We had been friends since we were 10 up until now, more than 9 years later. Yes I am now 19 if you didn't work it out already.
I left my room and went downstairs to the smell of fresh pancakes mixed with lemon. The mouthwatering fragrance made me rush to the kitchen where my mother was cooking.
"Happy birthday flower." My mother said. Her nickname for me was flower I can't remember how it started but it just stuck. I don't mind the name unlike many of my fellow teenagers. I wasn't too keen on growing up anytime soon.
"Thanks mum ." I replied then I gave her a big slobbery kiss on the cheek and took some pancakes to devour . I soon noticed that I couldn't hear my brother Ryan's high pitched voice that I've had to endure for too long. However as I had that thought he came proudly strolling in with his blue Tom and Jerry pj's. "The king has arrived !" He announced. "Oh get over yourself." I grumbled. "Flower be nice to your brother." She warned. "I can't help it," I answered "He's a fourteen years old who wears baby pj's and hasn't even hit puberty yet."
"At least I have friends." He said
I have no idea where he gets his attitude from ;)
"At least I have a life."
To this he kept his mouth closed.
"Mum today is monthly ritual day." I reminded her, referring to me going out with my friends.
"Oh ok have fun."
After I finished I went to my room and read some more of my book , I became so engrossed in it ,that I lost track of time , and before I knew it , it was time to get ready to go. My journey was uneventful but I got there pretty quick. I arrived and rung the doorbell and Jackson opened the door
"Hey Hope , right in time as usual ." He commented and to that I chuckled a bit.
We walked through the front passage and the door was closed . I noticed that oddly the lights were off but thought nothing of it . I put my hand on the handle turned and pushed ,then all of a sudden I heard
"SURPRISE!!"
