You can still be friends with murderers,

Amane–kun?

________

"—Hey, Amane!!"

A voice startled Amane out of his daze. He looked up to see his younger twin brother, Tsukasa, standing in front of him, a playful look on his face.

"Amane!" Tsukasa called out again, this time his tone more stern. "Are you even listening?" Tsukasa asked, his eyes glaring at Amane. "S-Sorry," Amane stammered, scratching the back of his neck.

"My, my, Amane, you have your head in the clouds lately!" Tsukasa smirked at Amane, knowing that he had caught him off guard. "Oh, do you have a crush on someone?" Tsukasa teased, and Amane's face turned bright red. "N-No," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. Normally, he would be annoyed that Tsukasa had accused him of having a crush, but today, he felt a bit distant.

"Oh, I know! Have you heard this story, Amane?" Tsukasa asked, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "The second of the seven mysteries is..."

The Misaki Stairs.

You must never step on the fourth stair . . if you break that rule, you'll be dragged into the world of the dead.

You'll be ripped into countless little pieces.

And at twilight, that stair . . drips with blood of it's victims.

________

"It's location is at the B stairs of the Art Room." Tsukasa said in a chilling voice that sent shivers down Amane's spine.

"I thought you liked stories like that, Amane!" Tsukasa whined, his usually bright smile now faded, "I-I d-do! I l-love them!" Amane stammered, trying to hide the fear he felt at the thought of those stairs.

He had always enjoyed Tsukasa's scary stories, but lately, all of them had turned out to be true, and it had started to scare him.

"I'm glad, then! I'm not very good with scary stories, but I'll tell as many as it takes if it cheers you up!" Tsukasa said, his smile returning to normal, and Amane couldn't help but smile back at his twin.

"Hey!"

Amane and Tsukasa turned their heads to the direction of the voice, finding themselves in the presence of their teacher. "Tsukasa, aren't you forgetting something?" the teacher asked, a hint of annoyance in his voice. Both of the twins raised an eyebrow, unsure of what the teacher was referring to. "I'll have a word with him, at 4:30, in the art room," the teacher continued, prompting Tsukasa to run to him in a hurry.

'Tsukasa did some troublesome stuff, didn't he?'

"Oh, that's right!" Tsukasa said, his eyes widening in realization. "I'll find more scary stories, so feel better, okay?" Tsukasa said, waving goodbye to Amane. Amane waved back, smiling, but deep down, he felt a weight of anxiety settling in his chest. "Thanks, Tsukasa," he said, but in his head, his thoughts swirled.
