Against all odds

What started it all

          Carl was excited for another year at Lindbergh Middle. He missed his friends, and he was ready to play more sports. Last year Carl picked up a few sports and its helped his health a lot, his asthma has become less severe and his allergies have cleared up a bit. Hes still allergic to some things, but other than that hes gotten better. Football tryouts were the week after school started so he'd been training throughout the Summer, and he'd gotten pretty good. As he walked to his locker he heard a familiar voice. 

          "CARLLL!" Jimmy yelled as he threw his arms around the boy. Carl laughed as he hugged Jimmy back, glad to see him after a few months.  "JIMMY I MISSED YOUUU" Carl told him as he ended the hug. "Me to bro, but we've got to find Sheen, he's in Mr. Wilsons  homeroom with us." "WAIT REALLY? We've got the whole trio!" Carl said excitedly. Carl, Jimmy, and Sheen had been friends since elementary school, and they were an unstoppable trio. As they walked down the hall Jimmy looked around and saw mostly faces he already knew, but also some new ones. He wondered who else would be in their homeroom. "Is Cindy in our homeroom?" Carl asked Jimmy with a smirk. Jimmy and Cindy had a flirty relationship since forever, it was clear to pretty much everyone that they liked each other. "I hope so, but the only people I know for sure is you, me, and Sheen. But I think Mr. Wilsons classroom is right up here so we'll know soon." 

     They walked into the classroom and noticed Sheen, Cindy,Britney and Libby. The two smiled as they saw them and went to sit near the desks they were at. Since the bell hadn't rung yet people were still coming in and everyone was talking to each other. Carl looked around and noticed a few other familiar faces, like Betty, Bolbi, and Nick. He also recognized Gabriela, May, Gerald, and Sid, although they weren't in his class last year. He didn't know them too well, but they seemed nice.

     "I can't believe were all in the same class this year!" Sheen said excitedly. Everyone agreed, as it was a big fear over break that they'd all be separated. "Everyone in the class seems pretty chill," Carl said as he looked around again. May was telling a story to her friend group and they were all laughing. He smiled at the people he'd be around for the next year, they all seemed nice. He was pretty sure Sid was going to be on the football team too, which was a big bonus. He could just tell that they were gonna be good friends. He continued looking around and noticed that it was 7:59, meaning the bell would ring any minute. He smiled as he turned back at his friend group, who were all smiling as Libby talked about her summer.  "and then the guy just exploded!" Libby finished right as the bell went off. Everyone laughed and smiled as Carl thought to himself that this would be a good year.
