"What are you going to do this summer?"

Haeun stopped writing as she faced the front when their teacher asked the question. Everybody answers differently; some were going to sleep and rest, some were going on road trips, some were travelling, and some were going to the beach.

"I'm going to work in our bakery. How about you, Haeun?" Haeun shifted her gaze to the side where her seatmate was sitting.

"I'm not sure, but I think I'll stay in our second house, you know, the one in the middle of the woods," Haeun smirked and wriggled her brows in an attempt to frighten Jungwon, who deadpanned her.

"I thought you were going to Switzerland." Jungwon asked while arranging his notebooks and placing them inside his bag.

"Change of plans," Haeun mumbled as she started to pack her things up.

"Okay, see you in class in September. Enjoy your summer!" Their professor exclaimed before exiting the class.

Jungwon and Haeun stood up and talked as they walked outside. Students were already filling the hallway, some were chatting in the locker area, and some were already running outside.

"It's already time for your taekwondo practice. I can manage myself." Haeun said when Jungwon wanted to accompany her on going home.

"I insist. Taekwondo practice can wait, but what if there's something going to happen to you? I can't bear to live with guilt," Jungwon said, his eyebrows met, and his face was painted with worry.

Haeun sighed before placing her hand on his shoulder, "Don't overreact. I can handle myself, okay?" Haeun took her hand off his shoulder and smiled sweetly.

"See you in September!" She exclaimed and walked away.

Jungwon sighed and scratched his nape as he watched the girl drift away from him. "Aish, what a stubborn girl," he mumbled.

Haeun's POV

Summer is already around the corner, and I decided to go to our second house. I don't have any particular ideas for spending my summer, but I think it'd be the usual.

Sleeping. My top priority.

But I want to do outdoor activities though...

Anyway, I need to get a rest after what I've been through for how many months. I studied every day and worked every day. By work, I meant researching for medical stuff that my parents wanted me to learn.

I'm not even interested in medicine, but they always pushed me to follow in their footsteps and become a biologist. The pressure I felt every month when they called was too much for me to bear.

They are currently abroad. Perhaps they'll pay a visit to their lovely daughter this Christmas. But I know they're not the type of parents who greet their children with kisses and hugs as soon as they walk in the door.

I wonder, since when was the last time I saw them personally? I think when I was six.

Jojo's Antique Store

Ding!

The bell rang as soon as I entered the antique store. "Hello?" I spoke up when I saw no one at the counter. That's strange. Where's Grandma Jojo?

I waited for her, but there was no response. My Granny Jojo was my maid's mother. I even heard that granny Jojo was our family's maid back in the 90's and her family still continues to serve us as a testament to the loyalty they have towards our family.

Granny Jojo made a store for her own good since she's fascinated by antique materials. She said that antique items are truly memorable and valuable because they represent a thing from the past, a timeline that is significant for everyone.

I went over to the shelves to take a look at the items. All of the items are, as expected, old and dark. Some are kept in glasses, while others are kept on shelves. Granny Jojo also sells these items. Even though it was painful for her to part with her treasured possessions, there comes a time when you must let go. It hurts, but that's what they mean when they say love.

"Does love really hurt?" I mumbled as I looked at the old books in front of me. I came to a halt when a particular book piqued my interest.

When I touched the book's cover, I discovered it was wrapped in leather. It's small in comparison to the others, and it resembles a diary.
