"Do you love me?" asked Miranda,
"Oh yes more than anything" answered Ferdinand as he leaned in to kiss her. At that moment in particular Miranda was afraid and excited at the same time, afraid because she had never kissed someone and didn't want to mess it up. But excited because who wouldn't be excited at their first kiss?
Suddenly out of the corner of her eye she saw her father the almighty Prospero, her first thought was to pull away because she didn't want her father to be a witness to her first kiss. But then a different thought came to her head, a more courageous thought, a more rebellious one. She leaned in and gave Ferdinand a kiss, for she specifically remembered what her father said
"Never kiss someone until I have personally met them and given you permission to do so."
She had only done this to give her father a sign that she was in charge of her own life now that she was sixteen, and she also kissed Ferdinand because in her eyes he was the most beautiful creature she had ever laid eyes on. When she finally pulled away she said to Ferdinand
"Follow me" she grabbed his hand and led him onto a small hidden pathway that led to the ocean. When Ferdinand finally snapped out of his love daze the only words that came out of his mouth were
"I love you." He leaned for a second kiss, but this time Miranda held her finger to his lips and said
"Not just yet my love when we get to our destination you can kiss me however many times you want." Once he heard her say that Ferdinand scooped Miranda up and started running at an even jog down the green leaved tree filled trail
"So let's get there quickly." He said, smirking a sly smile. Miranda giggled and held onto his neck for support, as she did this out of the corner of her eye she saw the glistening water approaching.
"We're almost there" whispered Miranda in his ear. Once they reached their destination, Miranda took off her tunic which had a bathing suit underneath and ran towards the ocean, Ferdinand did the same. They were playing splash tag when suddenly the birds stopped chirping and Miranda knew that that was the sign that her father was approaching.
"My father is coming," she worriedly said.
"How do you know?" he said as he started getting out of the water.
"The birds have stopped chirping, go quickly and hide in the bushes over there." She answered as she pointed at some bushes nearby. Ferdinand ran to the bushes while struggling to put on his tunic, after a few more minutes as Miranda predicted her father came around the corner.
"Honey what are you doing in the water?" He questioned
"Ya know, I just wanted to swim," she quickly replied. He raised an eyebrow at her, and Miranda knew that something was wrong.
"Are you sure honey? Because I thought you said you were going to do your homework?"
"Nah bro, I finished it, and plus it's a hot day outside can't a girl have a little fun in the water?" Her father knew she had come up with a good excuse, but he knew the truth for he had sent a spirit to watch them from afar. But alas he was happy for he would leave and soon his daughter would have more fun with her little "boyfriend" and he would soon be the king of Naples. He was soon gone and Miranda had called Feridinand to come out once more.
"He totally fell for it," said Miranda giggling
"Yeah, I think he did" answered Ferdinand with a little bit of worry in his voice. For when he was hiding in the bushes he could see a spirit also there, he had a feeling that that spirit was spying on them for Prospero.
When he was little his mother had told him a story, a myth, that when Prospero had come to the Island there was already a witch there, Sycorax. Sycorax had a lot of spirits as slaves at the time, when Prospero came he killed Sycorax and "freed" all the spirits. As a price for their freedom they had to now serve him, and his most vicious creature of them all is none other than that witch's son himself.
But he wanted to enjoy the time he had with Miranda so he pushed the worry out of his head.
"Hey how about we continue the splash tag I was totally winning?" Teased Ferdinand
"Okay" she answered, and they went on playing until the late afternoon.
When Miranda finally got back home after bidding Ferdinand farewell for the night, she went into her bedroom where she found her unfinished homework. She sighed, went over to the table and continued her homework. Just when she was about to finish her algebra work, she heard a rock slamming against her window.
"Miranda!" Ferdinand yelled. Miranda opened her window and put a finger on her lips, so as to signal Ferdinand to shut up. She ran down the stairs and out the door, grabbed his hand and pulled him into the bushes.
"You're lucky my dad isnt home, otherwise we would have been caught." She said scoldingly.
"Sorry Mir," he said very sincerely
"It's ok, anyways why did you call me down?" She asked
"Because I had to see you before I leave this Island" He said
"You're leaving?"
"Yeah I found my father, so farewell" he said, sounding very sorry. He hugged her once more before leaving.
