Undyne's green magic faltered briefly, and the human ran, leaving a trail of red-stained footprints behind them.

She continued her pursuit, feeling the dry air scratching against her gills and the thin sheen of sweat on her brow. Her legs were getting tired, but she pushed on as fast as ever, sending her spears raining down on their soul.

They dodged again, once, twice, three times, before being swept under the cascade of sharp, glowing blue.

For a moment, Undyne thought she'd finished them. Then she realised exactly what a foolish thought that was, as the human emerged from a cloud of dust, eyes shadowed by the brim of their ragged cowboy hat. The false confidence in their stance was betrayed by a quick CHECK, using up Undyne's turn.

They walked towards her, pulling a smallish, cylindrical weapon from their belt, and she stared into six round holes in the end that they pointed at her. Undyne tried to move, tried to dodge, tried to slash the thing out of their hand, but she was frozen in the glow of the human's bright yellow soul, until the weapon clicked and let loose the loudest bang Undyne had ever heard, rocking her ears and her stance and the very ground below her.

Two more earsplitting snaps came after as the human swung their weapon in an arc, and there was nothing Undyne could do before an instant passed and three smoking metal pellets tore into her unarmored body.

Undyne was stunned for a moment. Then pain lanced through her like white-hot lightning, crackling up her leg and through her stomach and burrowing deep into her head. The left side of her vision went dark, and she felt warm liquid trickle down her cheek. A cry of agony exploded in her ears, loud as the gunshots that still rang through her mind. It took her a second to realise that scream was hers.

The world seemed to tilt. Everything was blurring together, glowing orange rock covered in grey puddles of Undyne's blood. The human, searching through their pockets for a few last bullets.

The human.

The human...

The human!

No! It was not going to end here! The human would face retribution for what they had done to Undyne's people. What they had done to her. A few little metal beads weren't going to stop Undyne! She was the spear of justice, and she would strike them down!

"NGAAAAAAH!"

A spear formed in Undyne's hand, long and wickedly sharp, and she ran at the human, plunging the glowing blue point into their chest.

HP 0/52.

The human fell.

That rush of adrenaline quickly dissipated along with Undyne's spear, and the pain slammed back into her like a huge boulder, forcing her down. Her legs gave out, and she slumped to the hard, hot ground.

*Your LOVE increased!

Undyne's remaining vision was quickly blurring, but she could just make out the words as they blipped across a screen only she could see. She barely had a chance to process what they said before the words, and the rest of the world around her, disappeared.
