~Chapter 1~

The school bell rang. Laughter sounded through the school hall. Emma was shivering in fear, thinking if she's going to get bullied again. Soon, a group of students came to her and pushed her so hard she fell to the ground. She sobbed

“ Why me?” she whispered in her heart. Tears started trailing down her cheeks.

She stood up slowly and scrunched her face while touching her knees. She wiped away her tears. She faked a smile and walked slowly to the assembly hall.

Everyone in her class had assembled when she reached the assembly hall. She walked quickly while biting her lips, trying not to scream. She lined up in the last row, shedding a tear as she stood upright, her knees hurt so bad that it was hard for her to do so. But she still tried, not wanting to look weak infront of the others.

The national anthem started playing. Everyone sang along. After everyone had recited the pledge, the principle gave a short speech followed by our dismissal to our class. Emma saw the bullies from afar. They glared at her. She lowers down her gaze and stared at the ground as she half-limped to her class.

As she entered her class, she slowly went to her seat at the far left corner of the classroom which was near a window. Not one of her classmates noticed how she had walked to class. People had already started avoiding her since she first came to the school.

She came from a very rich family. Both of her parents own a multi-million company but none of them gave their total attention to Emma. On her first day of school, her parents embarrassed her during assembly by saying that I do not need friends who are not up to standard. Since then, people avoided me, I started being bullied. Each day I would always come home with a new bruise on my body.

Entering, she slowly slowly at the far left corner of the classroom, near a window. Not one of her classmates noticed her. People had already started avoiding her since she first came into the school.

She came from a very rich family. Both of her parents owned a multi-million company but none of them gave their attention to Emma. On the first day of school, she wore clothes that rich people would wear the latest designer trends. Since then, people avoided her, called her names like 'nerd', 'freak' and started bullying her. “Hasn't anyone heard of the saying – 'Never judge a book by its cover' ?” That was what Emma thought during her first day. She would always come home, each day with a new bruise on her body.

Emma never told her parents that she was being bullied. She even wished that she had never existed in this cruel world. Her reverie was broken by the teacher calling her name. Everybody turned to look at her. She slowly walked towards the Mathematics teacher only to be told that her teacher needed her help after school.

The bell then rang, indicating lunch time. Emma walked out of class first so that she would not walk into one of the bullies. As she reached the canteen, she was holding a brown paper bag as her lunch was in it. Her maid had forgotten to put her drink in the bag. Her legs felt like jelly. She had pocket money but was too scared to go and buy a drink in the canteen. She mastered up her courage to go there anyway. She was about to pay for her drink when one of her bullies yanked her ponytail really hard. Not a single person came to stand up for her. She was pushed up against a wall at the school hallway. The bullies demanded that she gave all her pocket money or they were going to beat her up senseless. So Emma gave them all the pocket money she had but they still demanded more. In the end, she got beaten up, yet no one came to help her.

No one seemed to care. She felt so unwanted in this world. She would rather die than live in this cruel world. As she walked along the hallway, she saw students lead a normal and happy high school life, much unlike her, whose life was full of tears and torture. Her heart whisperes “ What have I done to deserve such a life? Why can't I be like a other kids or have a normal life? Why me?” Tears rolled down her cheeks. She did not even have friends to confide in all her problems or some shoulder to cry on. Her parents rarely came home as they always travelled to other countries on buisness trips. Emma did not seem to care if she came from a filthy rich family as she knew that money could not buy her happiness. She wished that she could simply run away from all these problems.
