You said the way my blue eyes shined
put those Georgia stars to shame that night .
I said: "That's a lie!"
Just a boy in a Chevy truck,
that had a tendency of gettin' stuck
on backroads at night .
And I was right there beside him all summer long
and then the time we woke up to find that summer'd gone .
When she had became a teenager, and more than a person had told her: "You'll see, there will be summers you're going to remember forever", she didn't believe it first. Her summers were in a holiday house near the sea, with her family, without anything extraordinary. Besides, she used to believe she had spent her best summer when she was 13, with so many new friends, talking on the beach, listening to the radio and reading fashion magazines. During the end of that incredible August, she had also traveled to Paris! What to ask more?
...but, two years later, there would have been an amazing holiday, that would have made her change her mind completely.
Fifteen years old, almost sixteen. Not so much, but also enough for being tired of the usual holiday house. For example, she was very curious to see what did people who chose to spent their free time in holiday camps. Yes, she was strongly fascinated by those places, that seemed to her, at least from afar, true Heavens of fun and happiness. So, when that summer her aunt had decided to organize with two friends a beautiful week in a holiday camp of South Italy, the idea of joining them had seemed great to her. Besides, that would have been her first holiday without parents, and exactly where she had always desired to be: at the sea, but in a different place from the one she had always visited. She wasn't going to be bored, she was sure.
When, after a long night spent on the train, she entered the little but nice wood bungalow, between many trees, and she took a look to the white enormous beach that embraced a sea blue as maybe she never had seen, she felt exactly at the beginning of a big adventure.
She didn't think about the surprise, the new, the unexpected.
His name was Andrea and he was one of the most extrovert and happy entertainers. Canoe instructor, born in Naples, and, obviously, too much older than her. She liked him so much, to be honest. She spent her first evenings at the holiday camp trying to be invited by him to dance, but she ended up to dance with all the entertainers minus Andrea. Until the moment when, during the theme evening, it happened to her to share a dance with him. She was surprised! They talked a bit, and it was a great discovery for her to see that she was able to spend some time with a boy older than her without being awkward as she had feared. She was a little rigid at the beginning, and she tried to lead the dance (an old habit as a dancer), but Andrea put her at ease immediately. He was nice as she had imagined him to be; what made him special over everything was the fact that he was able to handle every situation, from a happy hour under the beach umbrella to a masquerade party. She knew that this was nothing but his job, yet she was delighted by that joy, which not all the others entertainers seemed to have. Yes, she liked everything in him. His physical appearance attracted her, of course; he had messy black hair, muscles, earrings and giant tattoos.
In any case, she knew that she would mainly remember his voice and his laugh.
And so... that week passed and flied away. There had been so many unforgettable moments!
