Chapter 1: Room 12

*Beep beep beep* I hit the snooze button on my alarm, roll my eyes and I let my body fall back down on the bed.

Great, I hate Mondays and mornings but my job makes waking up at 4 am worth it. I roll out of bed and hop into the shower, washing impurities out of my soft brown hair and exfoliating my skin. I walk out of the shower, throw a towel over my body and hair as I walk towards my vanity. I get myself ready for the day, drying and brushing my hair. I quickly put some light make up on and I go to look through my closet, seeing a variety of colors I wonder which scrubs I should wear...maybe my pink ones, no I'll wear my blue ones since I've been told they bring out my eyes.

I walk into the kitchen to make my morning tea and toast, hearing her before I see her Kate my roommate and best friend says "Ana! oh my gosh Ana, Claire just messaged me saying your new chief of staff just got in and that he's a total dream boat" I giggle as I put my tea down "Kate we all know how Claire's taste in men is" Kate groans and says "Ugh you're right, that girl settles for anyone. Well I hope he stops by my ward so I can take a real long look for myself" I pour up my tea and say "Well I'm just happy Jack is no longer in my ward cause he made me sick" "Yeah he was a total creep, who made him chief of staff anyway?" Kate says as we both laughed at her silly joke.

In the car I turn on the radio as Kate pulls out of the driveway. "There's gonna be a 90% chance of rainfall today in Seattle" says the news broadcaster on the radio "Wow rain in Seattle what a surprise" I say, Kate laughs and says "So did you know that your new chief of staff's mother is Doctor Grace Grey?" I gasp "Really!? Grace is amazing, I worked with her for a short time in her wing of the hospital" Kate looks surprised and says "Well I read he's super rich and is one of the top doctors in the world, but when I google searched him I couldn't even see any good photos of him!" I took a deep sigh and involuntarily face palm "Seriously Kate? that's all you care about? I'm just praying he'll actually be a good boss".

Once we get into the hospital Kate and I part ways, I walk into the elevator and hit number six, the maternity ward. Reflecting on my job, I remember how lucky I am to be able to see the miracle of life almost everyday. Being one of the first people to hold the beautiful babies, seeing a parent cry when they see their child for the first time are such breathtaking things. *Ding!* getting pulled out of my thoughts, I walk through the elevator and see two of my co-workers Nay and José at the nurses station aka the place we all chat.

I greet them with a smile, "Good morning you two!" I place my stuff in my area "Morning to you too Ana, looking beautiful as ever" says José I smile and say "Thanks José" while shaking my head and smiling, I've always known he has this crush on me but I don't date co-workers. I turn my attention to my close friend Nay who started in this ward at the same time as me and we've been friends ever since "Nay those pink scrubs look great on you, to think I was gonna wear mine, hah we could've match" I tell her, she laughs and says "Okay tomorrow we'll both wear our yellow ones" she winks. I walk over to the patient board and see that theres a patient waiting in room 12 for their IV. I gather my instruments but just as I was about to leave Nay quickly walks over to me and says "Wait until you see Doctor Grey, he is to die for! He's in room 11 right now so he'll be in room 12 soon, make sure you dont faint" I just shake my head and laugh as I walk towards room 12.

As I walk past room 11, my curiosity takes over and I try to peek in but the curtains are closed. I guess I'll just have to wait to see him. Walking into room 12, I see a very pregnant woman and her partner "Hi I'm Anastasia and I'll be your nurse today. I'm here to give you your IV while you're waiting for Doctor Grey" the woman nods and her partner grasps her hand. As I finish injecting the IV into her hand I hear someone walk in behind me. Before I can turn around I hear someone say...."Hello I'm Doctor Grey".
