She let out a sigh when she felt the plane taking off. This was it. She finally could let go of all the misery that had tormented her this last week.
As she closed her eyes, memories of these last days haunted her. Never had she thought that she would be deceived the way she had been. And that by the man that claimed to be in love with her for over ten years.
Before meeting him, she dreamt about traveling the world, seeing other countries and their culture, but one damn date and all she did was follow him like a little puppy. She had given up all her dreams for him, but what did he do? He hurt her more than she could have ever imagined.
The stewardess brought her a glass of white wine while she opened her laptop. She scrolled through her mail to check the latest response from her future employer. Opening her navigation app on her phone, she checked the fastest way to get from the airport to her new workplace. This would be her chance for a fresh start, and there was nothing that could stop her. She would move on if this place were not what she wanted, no strings attached. The plane landed smoothly, and she took her time to disembark.
A young man, sitting across the aisle from her on the plane, had flirted with her, but she ignored all his attempts. Never would she lay her life back in the hands of a man. As she stepped out of the plane, the said young man was waiting for her.
"Can I help you find your way? I know this city by heart." He approached her with a bright smile.
"I am sorry. Not to be rude. But what makes you think that I am interested in your help!" She let out harshly, removing the hand he had casually placed from her waist.
"Oh damn. You are a fierce one. I like that." He let out, placing his hand back.
"And you are dumb! I am not interested in having another small dicked, lousy man ruining my life!" She insisted, moving away to get her luggage. Seeing the stunned and furious man backing off made her grin. The taxi to her new workplace only took fifteen minutes.
Fifteen minutes, she used to look at the beauty of her new hometown, Seoul. Before entering the building, she checked her attire one last time.
"Hello?" She hesitantly let out when she reached the office of the director. The building seemed to be empty, which surprised her a little bit.
"Annyonghaseyo." A man in his late thirties appeared out of nowhere, making her jump back.
"Annyonghaseyo," she replied with a strong accent. "Do you speak English?"
"Yes, how can I help you?" The man said as he took a seat behind the desk. She immediately did not like the look she was giving her. The way he checked her out while licking over his lips made her feel naked.
"I am the new teacher."
"Oh, you are Ms. Klein, the new German teacher."
She nodded as the man hurried out from behind his desk to offer her a seat. He sat right next to her, so close that their knees touched.
"Are you Mr. Choi, the director?"
"Umm, no. It is Saturday, dummy. The director doesn't come in during the weekend."
The way he talked to her made her blood boil, but she needed this fresh start, needed this job, so she remained calm for now.
"I am the vice director Mr. Yang, but you can call me Ji-Hoon Oppa, Sweety." His hand wandered toward her, but luckily, she saw it coming and turned to remove her phone from her purse.
"Thank you, but I will stick with Mr. Yang."
"As you wish," he said as he leaned back and let his eyes travel over her body again.
"I am sorry, but the last email stated that the school would handle my housing. Can I maybe get the address and the keys?"
Mr. Yang stood up and strolled around the desk to get the keys in the drawer.
"Let me give you a ride. It will be so faster and less complicated with your luggage." Before she could dismiss his offer, he had already taken her suitcase and was walking out of the building.Trying to get as far as possible from the vice-director, she put her purse next to the middle console. The drive was longer than she expected, but she was also not sure if he had taken the fastest way to get to her home.
"We are finally here!" He told her as he parked in front of a small building. Gradually she took in the surroundings and felt surprised that it seemed a bit out of the main city. The roads were small, and there were not many people wandering around.
"Come on. Let me show you your new home." Mr. Yang opened the passenger side for her and walked ahead of her with her suitcase in her hand.
She followed him up the little staircase until he stopped in front of a wooden door. He keyed in the code to open the front door and walked in without waiting for me to ask him to.
"I hope you will like it here." He said when he turned and faced her, letting his thumb brush over her cheek.
"Thank you. I think I can handle it from here on. I will see you on Monday. I am sorry, but I am kind of tired from traveling." She babbled fast as she pushed the man out of the door.
