First day of school, I thought to myself walking past all of the towering seniors. I felt as though all of the kids at this high school went through a huge growth spurt and I totally missed out. Walking past everyone I hadn't known, I spotted someone, a friend not only that, but a best friend. "Rebecca?" I said as I saw her talking to some girl I did not know. She turned around just in time so I could study her face to see if it was really her, and it was! "Rebecca!"
"Hey Alex!" she said as she waved to the girl as she walked away
"Hey! I 'm so happy you're here!"
"Why?" she asked.
"Because I don't know anybody in this High School,"I said with a big smile on my face trying to keep my hopes up that I'd actually meet some friends.
"Oh well you know me!" she said as she started to walk away.
Rebecca was a little bit on the slow side she knew more about hair and makeup than English and Math.
"So...," I said as it led into trunk ence, "I feel like I haven't seen you in forever!"
"Yea it has been a while." she paused "What class are you going to next?"
"Um" I fumbled through my folder to find my class schedule "Mr. Wright" I chuckled
"Yea his name is pretty perfect, but he he is too so" she paused "Cool we have the same 1st period together," she said cheerfully as we entered the room, but as I turned the corner to enter BAM!!! Some idiot had knocked into me as he was exiting the room.
"Oh my gosh I am so sorry!" I heard as I crouched over to retrieve my books
"Well you should have watched where y-..." I said peering up to see who had tumbled over me.
"No I'm sorry!"I felt as though I saw an angel. The tall muscular figure standing in front of me had brown hair that was flipped up he also had piercing blue ocean eyes that complimented his perfect white teeth.
"That's okay, it really was my fault,"
"No I should have watched where I was going." I said to the dreamy idiot that knocked me over. He was standing in the middle of the doorway and I couldn't get through yet he was staring into my eyes it was a little awkward.
"Nash!" I heard a loud screech echo through my ear.
"Yes" responded the angel standing in my way.
"We've got to go dude we're going to be late."
"Okay I'll be there in a second." He finally stopped examining my face and followed the loud guy that screamed at him. I sat down in a random seat that Rebecca had saved for me.
"That's Nash he's captain of the football team. Every girl dreams of being with him, I think he likes you."
"What? He would never want to be with someone like me!"
"Are you kidding me you are a beautiful woman and you have an amazing personality not to mention an amazing voice."
Mr. Wright interrupted us in the middle of our conversation, when Rebecca tossed a quick smile at me, I could see what she was talking about Mr. Wright was kind of perfect. "Good morning everyone we have a new student with us today." About 30 or more faces turned around to examine who had started to attend their school. "Everyone this is Alexandra Johnson. Say hi everybody," he demanded
A lot of different greetings bolted out of everyone's mouths as I decided to say "hi" back "Alexandra just transferred here from..." he threw a quick glance at me and said, "What school was it again?"
My throat was dry and I was nervous to talk with all of these people staring at me, but I gutted up and I spoke "Georgia High School... I transferred from Georgia High School." He looked confused, "Why did you decide to move to such a small town?"
"I lived here when I was little with my dad"
"Who is your father?" "It's a small town maybe we know him"
"Charles Johnson" Everyone's faces went blank
"Oh" "Charles was a good man."
"Thank you" with all of the questions I was being asked I would say I was under interrogation. Mr. Wright started to run his mouth about World War ll as I saw everyone look at me in sorrow I was a little confused as why people felt bad for me, it was 6 years ago and I really wasn't looking forward to the rest of my first day of school being ruined thinking about my dead dad.
The bell finally rang I pretty much sprinted to get to the door and then I realized I'd forgot about Rebecca, so I re-entered the room, she stood there staring at me with a huge grin on her face.
"Hey what's wrong?"
"I just don't want everybody telling me sorry for my loss all day I wanted this day to be a good day not a grief party."
"Yea when my mom died I felt the same way."
"That's why I love you, you always understand me!"
The rest of the day was pretty much the same everyone telling me "sorry" instead of "welcome" but I just said "Thank you" and smiled .I couldn't stop thinking about the dreamy jock that ran into me. So many questions about him were running through my head like was he staring at me? Did I have something on my face besides my concealer? Did he like me? Did I like him? My brain was all over the place going left, right,up,and down I just really liked him, I think.
"Hey Woo Hoo! Over here!"
"Oh sorry"
"You okay?"
"Yea sorry Bec I just...alot is going through my mind right now."
"Wow" she said, we were just entering the lunchroom now, we sat our books at a table that sat right next to the windows
"What"
"Nothing it's just...mom called me Bec too."
"Oh, sorry I-" she interrupted me and smiled down at a picture that was taped onto her binder it was her, and her mom sitting on a porch swing smiling a BIG grin. They both looked very happy wearing their matching purple shirts.
"No I like it, it feels like home."
I threw a quick glance at her and smiled wide, as we started to the lunch line.
"Hey look it's Nash" she stretched her arm in front of me pointing to a beautiful angel, the one I had seen in Mr. Wright's class. He had seen me peering at him from across the cafeteria and flashed me a big smile I smiled back and turned my head to tell Bec what happened. "Oh my gosh he won't stop staring at me!" We both turned our heads to investigate if he was still glaring at me, and his big, blue, eyes were still watching me not moving an inch.
She gasped and her eyes got really big, "You should go talk to him!"
"What, you want ME to go talk to HIM?" I paused there was no way he would want to talk to a geek like me! "No he is totally out of my league there is no way he would want to talk to me." "Umm well that's not a problem anymore"
"What do you mean by that?" she put both of her sweaty hands on my shoulders and slowly started to turn me around, I was still very confused as to why Bec was turning me around, but once I did a complete 360 I found out why it wasn't a problem to go talk to him anymore because he was standing there ready to talk to me.
