Addie spent all of Friday waiting in anticipation for her first 'Princess Lesson' the next day. It wasn't that she was excited, per se, but more nervous. She was nervous about how she was going to get away with the lying part and also whether she would embarrass herself in front of her grandmother, the literal queen of Genovia.

Luckily for her, her dad had had some books lying around the house about Genovia. There were muggle books which were more focused on the history and then there were books written by wizards; these were the books Addie found the most interesting.

Since Genovia became its own country the Renaldi's, her mother's family, had been ruling both the wizarding and the muggle society, being the only country that had done so. The muggles in Genovia had no idea that wizards existed, much less there being an active wizarding society in their country.

It fascinated Addie that magic was so prominent in Genovia—most of the buildings were made using magic that dated back centuries for one example of it. The members of Parliament were filled with both muggles and wizards (all of the muggles in parliament even knew about magic) and they worked in harmony with one another to govern both of their societies. It was maddening to Addie that she didn't know about this sooner. It would certainly be more exciting than whatever Binns has set to teach them for the next hour.

"Hi," Addie jumps in her seat as she is startled out of her thoughts by Dominic. "You alright?"

Addie purses her lips together and nods. "Yep. Dreading sitting next to you for an hour, but what else is new?" She grins as he narrows his eyes at her.

"You're not the only one complaining here. You smell like you haven't taken a shower in a month." He says as he pulls out his chair to their shared desk.

"Oh yeah? Well you..." She racks her brain for anything she can use to insult him but to give the guy some credit he's actually very lovely, even though he said she smells bad (which is totally false, she smells great). "...You smell as well." She mentally cringes as the words leave her mouth, knowing that Dominic, despite her saying that he is lovely, will absolutely make fun of her for it.

"That was pathetic, Ads." He says very sympathetically and pats her on the shoulder to express his sympathies. Childishly, Addie sticks her tongue out at him and turns to watch Professor Binns begin his exciting lesson on the dissolving of the Wizards' Council.

History of Magic was the one class Addie took without Macks, Diane or Elodie, all of them stating that they would rather die than willingly choose to spend another year listening to Binns' drone on and on. Dominic was the only other person out of her friends who was as insane as she had been to choose the class—neither his or her words, they both thought they were rather sane, actually.

And so, because it was only them that shared the lesson, and neither of them were the most studious of students, they usually spent the entire hour annoying one another without Elodie, Macks or Diane telling them to focus on their work.

"Oi," Dominic flicks Addie's cheek lightly to catch her attention, which she is eternally grateful for because she doesn't think she would actually be able to focus on Binns for the next 50 minutes without losing brain cells.

The topics might be interesting, but the man certainly isn't.

Addie turns her head to the side to look at him. "What?" She whispers, instantly suspicious by the pleased look on his face.

"Elodie and I have been speaking–"

"No." She cuts him off before he can even continue because she knows exactly where he is going with this conversation. Almost every week before a Hogsmeade weekend comes around Elodie and Dominic try to set her up with one of his friends. She had found it sweet in the beginning, back when she was freshly single and they were encouraging her to date again, but now they were nearly a year down the line and the sweetness has worn off.
