I woke up the next morning. I was instantly thrown into the bath and then thrown out. I didn't mind I was use to it. My hair was put into a messy curled bun. They slid on a nude colored dress with a black belt. I smiled as they put in my earrings and put on my makeup. I walked outside to see my mother and our manners teacher Ms. Blanca
"Princess Rebecca, today you will meet your suitors, you will converse with them for 5 minutes to get a feel for them, you may eliminate some after you talk to them, but that would preferably be after breakfast. Now make sure to be elegant and just nod and say yes or something. Do not start going off in a bunch of misleading conversations. Now smile, look proper, and do not under any circumstance throw up", Ms. Blanca said as we made our way down from the third floor to the first. We were waiting outside the doors to the manners room.
I smiled and nodded as I kept my head up high and walked in gracefully, up until the point I tripped over my dress. My face flushed a bright pink as I recollected myself.
"Hello gentlemen, today I will have a short conversation with you all that will take place for about five minutes, we will start in the front and then move to the back", I said trying to sound proper as I approached the first male. I smiled and tapped his shoulder. He flashed me a smile and stood up offering his arm. I couldn't help it but giggle.
"Why thank you kind sir", I said smiling. He smiled and chuckled a bit as he lead me over to the seats. He kissed my hand as I sat down.
"So tell me about yourself". I said looking at the blonde haired, hazel eyed boy.
"I'm Timmy Coog, I'm a 4 from Yukon. I like long walks on the beach...", the rest off his words became muffles as I glanced over at Blake. His soft brown eyes met with mine briefly, as a grin swept across his face. I could feel my face flush as I looked down at my fingers and then back up at Timmy.
"That's delightful", I said with a fake smile on my face.
He frowned momentarily. Looking into my eyes.
"My grandmother dying is delightful?", he asked. My face fell, this was going to be harder then I thought.
After our brief and embarrassing moment the conversation continued rather boringly.
I was thrilled to be done, but then I had to go through more boring suitors.
Paul Havor, know it all. Justin Brom, boring. Duncan Phips, too judgmental. Kevin Gross, weirdo. Geoffrey Tims, dress obsessed. Quentin Morris, surprisingly down to Earth. Ben Powell, stuck up. Chris Cougar, scary.
I went through more and more conversations, then there was Blake.
Blake smiled and stood up, as I slid my arm in his. It fell together so perfectly, like it was meant to be. I took a shaky breath in and met his gaze.
I sat down on the couch as he sat on the other side. I meet his eyes, a soft smile crossed my face.
"You have no idea how hard it is not to kiss you right now", he said.
I could practically feel my cheeks heat up. I looked at the floor and then up at him. His goofy grin plastered on his face. Butterflies filled up my stomach as I let out a soft sigh. I snapped out of it as the sound of strong heels hitting the ground. Ms. Blanca.
"So tell me about yourself", I said.
"Well, my name is Blake Chancellor, I'm a seven from Whites, and about one year ago I kidnapped a princess who I fell in love with", he said
I blushed a deep red. This was the one, the boy who kidnapped me, who saved my life more times that I could count, who got me a star scar, who broke his promise.
I felt my face fall as I replayed the event in my head. The leather lashes pounding against my skin, the hurtful words. Suddenly I was pale in the face. I stood up quickly.
"Thank you, Sir Blake", I said unable to meet his eyes.
I put on a fake smile and turned to the selected, trying to fix my posture in fear of Ms. Blanca.
"Now we will go and have breakfast!", I said and then quickly walked out of the room.
My heels slammed against the tiles as I made my way to my room. "Annalisa have the butlers bring my food to my room", I said as I flopped on the bed.
I decided it was time to start eliminating people, before they started eliminating me.
