Sinbad was indeed shocked to hear of a 4th magi, but a 5th!? That was absolutely insane. There would be no way that there was a 5th magi. 4 was enough, and now he had to deal with another one!? Not to mention he basically took in Aladdin, the 4th odd ball of the magi's. 5 was just too many for him to deal with.
First there was Yunan who he met. He was deceiving and smart, a traveler. Yet he was also kind and a good friend to Sinbad. He was what you'd call a... first friend. Although the two never got too close to actually be considered anything other than acquaintances, Sin would still consider Yunan his friend.
Then there was Judar, the mischievous and "dark" magi. He riled Sinbad up to his core, and most of the time the latter wanted to shove the former into an active volcano and seal the opening with a giant bolder so he couldn't get out. Yet, he wold have to settle with the magi tormenting his best friend, Jafar, every time he came to "visit."
After that was Scheherazade. Although Sinbad has never actually met with the female magi before, he's heard that she is a very strict but kind woman. (In same ways more than others) She's basically an empress, which somewhat makes her a rival to Sin, but he'd never challenge a magi.
Lastly- well, before Sin found out about a 5th magi- was Aladdin. He is a child, that is for sure, but he also has great strengths as well. He is loyal and kind, goofy and fun, but most of all a great friend. Sin has already seen who Aladdin has picked for hi king candidate, Alibaba, his best friend. It's a wonder to see them together, as it almost brought a nostalgic feeling to Sin when he was younger.
From the rumors he has heard about this "5th magi" Sinbad assumed that they would be just like the others, excluding Judar. (He's a special case) Yet, when the identity of the magi was shown to him, he couldn't believe it. All the dots had clicked together, and now everything made sense.
