"Penelope, my beautiful daughter"

A woman with brown hair and green eyes called out to her daughter, she was a girl who looked to be around the age of 18, young and beautiful just as her mother claimed.

The girl shared the same straight brown hair and droopy green eyes as her mother, the only difference she had from her mother was the mole she had on the corner of her bottom lip.

"Yes, mother?" Penelope answered, allowing her mother to cup her face with a smile.

"Recently, your father hasn't been feeling well, and we aren't doing well in terms of money. I too, am not going to last long" Penelope listened to her mother's words, she already knew the situation, however.

"And you already know your sister, Rosaria will be the one to take the name as the Countess of Judith, so we need you to support her," Penelope's mother said.

"Of course, Mother. I will always support you and sister Rosaria" Penelope answered with a straight face, she couldn't understand why her mother kept repeating the same things over and over again, but she never questioned anything and only listened.

"Yes, that's good. This is why your father and I agreed to arrange you with Prince Claude" Penelope's eyes widened when she heard her mother say something different for once, and that difference was telling her that she was going to marry the 2nd Prince, Claude.

Everyone in Obelia knew who Claude was, just by his name it was clear the Prince was not granted the love of the Emperor. The same Claude de Alger Obelia was born to a commoner mother.

The Empress of Obelia, who was the mother of the 1st Prince, who was also the Crown Prince Anastasius de Alger Obelia, was a pure noble and showed clear signs of dislike for the 2nd Prince.

Because of the Empress' attitude towards Claude, the other nobles would, of course, follow the footsteps of the Mother of the Empire, by neglecting Claude as well.

He was the one who Penelope was going to marry, the limping Claude, the dull Claude, the lifeless Claude...

The unlovable Claude.

"Prince Claude?" Penelope repeated in surprise, she didn't have any sort of resentment for the boy who was the same age as her, in fact, she never had a single thought about the Prince run through her mind.

Even though she had seen the Prince being cast away by the other nobles, she never showed a sign of joy or pity, because showing any emotion towards a royal would be mocking them, and Penelope who was taught as a lower noble learned to not mock the higher nobles.
