Her name is Summer and it was summer when we first met. I was with my friends at Venice. An on-deck party invitation was sent to us from our old friend, Alejandro. We were in high school together. He is from a rich--wealthy family. Everyone in school knew him. The popular athlete-he does all kinds of sport and not to mention that he was the student body president. I wonder why he even remembers me.
We arrived at 8 in the morning after taking a ferry to that small famous town. A hotel room was already booked by Alejandro, so we went straight to the hotel. Since we got plenty of time, we decided to walk to the hotel. It was not that far, I really enjoyed the view. Away from all those New York's traffic.
The hotel was at the end of the road. It was no ordinary. It was small and simple but spacious. I really got caught up with the Venice vibes. The manager, an old humble Italian man named Pepito, greeted us. The hotel turned out to be one of Alejandro's family businesses--no wonder. Pepito led us to our rooms. I put my stuffs in and went to Ben's room. Apparently, the guys were exhausted and jetlagged. They wanted to stay in and order room service. I chatted with them a little and then I got bored. I left and decided to take a look around the neighborhood.
I put on my sunglasses and went pass through the hotel entrance and there she was. A girl wandering around with a book in her hand. I never saw a girl so flawless that I just stood there, standing still. My eyes were locked on her and I couldn't take them away. But then, I saw her looking at me uncomfortably and she went away. Embarrassed, I put my head down and started to walk. But it looked like fate had made its own decision. She was being bumped by a little girl and fell towards me. She leaned to me and I hold her arms. Her eyes are just mezmerizing. Her hair frames her face perfectly. Was it just a slight of luck or fate? I helped her to get back on her feet and a smile was given to me. She said thank you and left. I didn't know why my heart was beating so fast. As happy as I was, I knew that the chance of meeting her again was one in a thousand million.
As I walked away, I felt that something had been stepped. I looked towards my shoes and apparently a phone was lying on the ground. Curious, I picked up the phone and clicked the home button. Surprised, and maybe a little excited, a photo of that girl in a beach--Santa Monica, maybe--was being set as the lock screen. I didn't know what to do, but my heart said to keep that phone. I went back to my room, holding her phone. I kept staring at it wishing that she would call her phone. But there was nothing. I got so caught up that the clock was being ignored by me the whole time. I didn't realize it was time to go to Alejandro's party until my name was being called several times. I got ready as quick as possible but I made time to bring her phone and put it in my pocket.
We arrived at the party. It was very crowded. Searching for Alejandro took like a whole 30 minutes. We met him and chatted for a while. Catching up felt great but the room was filled by lots of people, so I decided to get some fresh air. I took her phone out and I walked towards the railing. There were some groups of girls chatting at the corner of the yacht. But then the phone vibrated. I picked it up and the call was ended. I felt someone walking towards me and my shoulder was poked. I turned around and there she was!
She said,"Excuse me, I think you have my phone."
"Um... Yeah, sorry. I picked it up on the road earlier today. I think you dropped it when you fell."
She blushed,"Ah, yes.. So you were the guy who helped me, eh?"
"It appears so... Ah! The name's Aaron Colin. You can call me Aaron."
"Well, thank you Aaron. Can I have my phone back?"
"Yeah, yeah, sure, sorry. Here's your phone."
"So... I should go now or this convo will get very awkward, or so" She smiled and turned away. I was so not focused, I didn't know what to do. But something hit me. I ran towards her.
"Hey! Don't you think it's unfair if I'm just the one who mention my name?"
She smiled,"If you insist..."
"So???"
"My name's Summer"
....
