I scrounge through my small, messy room, a black duffle bag resting on my bed. Clothes were tossed around it, my plan was to sort it out later.

My dad was downstairs, probably trying to remember what he was supposed to be doing today. Then I'd have to remind him for the thousandth time.

I hit my head on my drawer as I stood up. I held my forehead and stumbled back towards my bed. I groaned.

Looking down, I started stuffing items into the duffle bag. "Okay. Shirts, pants, shorts..." I muttered.

The bag wasn't organized, but it'd work when I got onto the train. I turned to the side, grasping the school books, a few others, and a pencil and paper. Lastly, I snatched the small teddy bear that mom gave me before she died.

I zipped up the bag, finding the other backpack I packed and swung it over my shoulder, opening my bedroom door and rushing down the stairs.

Pa and I lived on a small farmhouse, and I was always a bit in awe on how long our yard stretched. I slipped around the corner in my sneakers, finding myself in the kitchen.

Pa glanced at me, before going back to flipping his pancakes. He pushed his round glasses up on his nose.

I grinned at the pink apron he was wearing. Mom's.

"Hey Pa," I smiled, dropping my bags on the ground and pulling out plates. He looked at me.

"'Morning, Theo!" He bellowed in his deep voice. Pa started to flip a pancake high in the air, it hit the ceiling.

I laughed, joining my voice with his.

My dad had curly, puffed up brown hair and dark blue eyes. His skin was always tan, so I couldn't tell what color it naturally was. He was relatively short. Or maybe I was tall.

I looked out the window, seeing a few horses outside. Pa said that even though we lived in the magical world of Fryyah, there were a few human creatures who could slip through portals.

The horses were playing in the paddock near the front of our house and had no inkling that they did not belong in our world. We kept them anyway. To the side of our small ranch, there were pegasus and unicorns.

Pa had set the pancakes on a big glass plate in the middle of the table, me walking over.

"Where's Zoey?" I quizzed.

My dad shrugged, "I dunno. Only the moons and stars know where that kid is at all times."

I huffed, knowing my twin would eventually be down here. My dad came over to me and sat down, stuffing breakfast in his mouth. I did the same, but we had to get to the train station.

The train whistle blew, and I took a seat on the green leather seats beside Zoey and my best friend, Rocky.

He had almost black hair and brown eyes with flecks of gold. His skin tone was light, but had an almost red mark running down his right arm. Rocky said it'd always been there.

I felt the train rock on the tracks as Zoey scoffed and moved to sit across from me.

"For twins, you two are the complete opposite," Rocky mused, tugging his bags off the seat.

Zoey rolled her eyes and looked out the window. I sighed, and that's how we were the entire ride.
