Have you ever wondered what it would be like to die and be reborn?
Well, suffice it to say that the only thing that can be said with certainty is the sheer absurdity of the luck you'll end up with, be it good or bad.
However, regardless of whatever kind of luck you end up with, the one thing you most certainly will have is baggage, especially if you retain or manage to recover your old memories. An example of this would be if a king was reincarnated as a peasant. It shouldn't be too hard to imagine that they wouldn't exactly be very pleased with their new life, and would therefore attempt to reclaim what they had lost with a fervent passion unlike none would likely ever see again in their lifetime.
Now imagine, if you would, the fate that would befall one who died losing everything they held dear because those they trusted had made the pinnacle of foolish decisions. On top of that, a series of unfortunate events would corrupt this person's soul so irreversibly, that even should they regain what they had lost...the void within them would remain.
This is a story of two worlds and the one whose fate was tied to them both.
*Scene Change; Dimensional Gap*
No POV
Approximately fifty years ago, a certain True Dragon was minding his own business within the space between realities. The behemoth of a Dragon God known as Great Red had simply gone about his normal routine, alternating between sleeping and doing cool aerial tricks within the boundless space he ruled over. Even Ophis, the Infinite Dragon God, hadn't shown up to pester him to leave her "home" in quite some time, so there was nothing particularly out of the ordinary regarding that day.
All in all, things were downright peaceful... at least at first.
After doing another round of stunts, Great Red had decided it was about time for another nap when he felt a very uncomfortable and familiar feeling wash over him.
Great Red: *Growls* (I'm being watched again...)
Despite his massive size and showboating, the only thing he hated more than being disturbed in the middle of a stunt was being watched without his express permission. Wanting to find the perpetrator and eradicate them, Great Red used his heightened draconic senses to attempt to locate his soon-to-be-dead stalker. After a short search, he noticed a barely-perceptible cloaked figure standing on one of the sparse masses of debris that floated throughout the Dimensional Gap. Not wanting to waste any more time, Great Red opened his maw and fired a massive breath attack in the direction of the cloaked individual, wanting to end things quickly.
*BOOM!!!*
The shockwave from the impact reverberated throughout the Dimensional Gap for several moments before subsiding, revealing that the entire section of floating debris in that direction had been annihilated.
Great Red: "About damn time..."
As the Dragon of Dreams succumbed to his own slumber, he was unaware that the cloaked individual had survived his earlier attack, and was currently hiding among the countless other sections of debris floating around. Although they had indeed survived, that was not to say that they were unharmed, as their body was littered with severe burns.
Cloaked Figure: *Breathes heavily* (That's the strongest dragon alright. Even though I deployed my strongest barrier and teleported out of the way at the last second, I'm still on death's door...)
The unknown individual then took out two different vials from underneath their cloak and poured the contents of one of them into themself. Within a matter of moments, all of their injuries had disappeared and they stood back up to dust themself off.
