"Some people believe that ravens guide travelers to their destinations. Others believe that the sight of a solitary raven is considered good luck while more than one raven together predicts trouble ahead."

1999 Tree Hill, North Carolina

It was peaceful night in Tree Hill. The weather was changing, children were getting excited about summer vacation. The town was becoming more and more alive. Karen Roe stood by the twin's double hung window, thinking of how much her life truly has changed the past year. She tries to not go down a long depressing rabbit hole, especially at night when it can be the loneliest time. Instead she turns from the dark cloud and turns her face to her two lights.

Lucas Eugene Scott and Leia Elise Scott.

The tiny babies were sleeping soundly in their crib, curled up with one another. She watched their chest move, the soft sounds of their breathing. She could truly watch them for hours, continuing to wonder just how she become so lucky to have them.

"How is it that you've only had possibly a hour of sleep and still look so beautiful?" Keith spoke softly, his sock feet silently creeping into the room to be sure he wouldn't wake the twins. Two steaming cups of coffee in his hands. The aroma already waking Karen's senses.

Karen shakes her head, walking over and carefully taking a seat on the old rocking chair she had picked up from a flea market in town. "Oh please, you might need to go get your eyes seen." Karen spoke softly, careful not be to loud.

Keith laughs, quietly. He hands over her cup of joe, taking a sip of his own. "They finally went down for the count?" He taking a glance at the cribs, before looking back at the woman in front him. The woman he was completely, hopelessly in love with.

"Yes, though I fear it won't last long. Especially with Leia's record. I swear it's like she fears she'll miss something if she sleeps. Even if she is only three months old." Karen laughs softly, taking a sip of the liquid gold. The only thing that was keeping her from being a brainless zombie.

Karen marveled at the fact that despite how brand new they were, she could see their personalities coming out. She could see the differences but also how similar they were. Leia was more vocal, while Lucas was more observant. They loved to hear their mother read to them, to have their Uncle Keith make funny noises and faces at them.

"Yeah, you're gonna have your hands full with her for sure." Keith smirks, despite only being the twin's uncle, he hoped to be a very big part in their lives. To help Karen guide them through this crazy thing called life.

"Oh yeah, I have a feeling they both will. Especially Lucas. I mean I think about the conversation that I'll have to have with him. Conversations Dan would've had to have with him.." Karen bites her bottom lip, trying to keep any tears she had suddenly well up to stay where they were.

Keith saw the sudden moisture bream her deep green eyes. He takes her free hand in his, giving it a assuring squeeze. "Hey, you are going to do a wonderful job with both of them. I can already see the way you are with them. If anything Dan not being in their life could very well be a blessing."

Karen shook her head. "I just hate that no matter what happens Dan will always linger in their lives somehow." Karen looks down at their joined hands. She gives Keith a squeeze of the hand in return. "I'm glad that they will have you. Thank you for standing by me through all of this. It was way over the call of being a uncle. I mean you should be with Dan as Nathan comes into the world. Instead you're here, with us."

Keith shook his head, "I'll be in Nathan's life, but I know that I'll be closer to the twins for many reasons. You know Danny and I haven't been close in a very long time. Nathan being born won't make a difference, just like the twin's didn't. I just hope He doesn't screw up Nathan to badly." Keith scoffs, shaking his head.

"Well hopefully Deb will be what makes a difference, maybe change things in a way I couldn't." Karen spoke with a slight emotion in her voice. Part of her blames herself. Thoughts of regret try to creep in before the twin's birth, but when she held them in her arms and watched as their eyes opened and peered up at her. Something just clicked, all the regret, shame and worry of the future faded away for a moment.

"Danny is who he is, cause he chooses to be. No one is going to change his way of thinking and the way he operates unless by some miracle he gets a new brain." This comment makes Karen crack into a soft laugh. Keith smiles proudly, happy to have a small victory as making her laugh.

Falling in love with his little brother's ex wasn't something Keith was planning on doing. Especially when the news of her pregnancy came to light, the news only made him love her more. Seeing her grow into such a incredible woman and mother was a privilege.

Then when Dan broke up with her and went away to college, Keith knew someone had to step up and help Karen. When her parents and Dan parent's abandoned her, Keith saw that he was the only one who could possibly handle the responsibilities to her and those sweet babies. He just hopes to stay in their life forever, or as long as Karen will let him.

Karen peers over at Keith, she truly had no words that could truly express how grateful she was to him. They've been friends for years, despite dating Dan it never changed their friendship, but only made it better. So much better that when she found out she was pregnant he was supportive. Then when she found out that Dan was leaving for college and didn't want to be apart of the twin's lives; Keith stepped up and made sure Karen was never truly alone in this journey.

He was there when they were born, he got to hold both of the twins and he cried as he held them with such love. He has not once missed a day to come see them and make sure Karen had everything she ever needed for herself and the twins. She was truly grateful to have Keith Scott in their lives.

Before Karen could open her mouth to try and put her gratefulness into words until a whaling cry erupts from the crib. Karen knew that cry.

Poor Lucas was hungry. Again.

Now sixteen years later, Lucas and Leia are teenagers facing the world head on. Love, Heartbreak, Confusion, Anger, and so much more. So many questions, but will there be answers?

Looks like you'll have to read to find out.
