Chapter2 - Oops

22 1 1

It was night and most of the passengers, including Chat Noir were asleep. Marinette was looking out of the window, at the lights of the cities below them. She had no idea of where they were at this very moment. The view was truly beautiful though. There were many colorful little lights. Many of them were blinking, some were still.. It looked like the night sky, except it was below them. It would be a beautiful design for a dress. A dark, dark blue dress with a big layered skirt. There would be sparkles on the skirt, just like the stars on the sky. Some would be brighter than the others..
Marinette's designer moment was disturbed by the sudden urge to use the restroom. After struggling to get through Chat and the old lady without waking them up (and almost falling on top of them) she had a clear path. Well, not as clear as the lights were turned off so the passengers could sleep but still clear enough to not trip. However, something felt strange. She could feel this uneasy feeling when something was wrong, but you don't quite know what it is.. Yet..  An uncanny feeling, to be exact.
I'm probably just tired she kept telling herself as she carefully tip toed to the restrooms.. A small turbulence occurred when she was washing her hands, but nothing too bad.
Tikki got out of the handbag to stretch a bit. She's been in the handbag for quite some time and it was tiring to be there for hours, however, the kwami was used to that. She noticed her owner's face expression..
"Are you okay, Marinette?" She asked carefully.
Her holder nodded, although, she herself seemed unsure about that. Surprisingly, she managed to not think about Hawk Moth for most of the time.
"I just have this.. Weird feeling.. Like something's wrong but I can't quite figure out what. It's probably just the long flight.." The bluenette then spoke. She knew it wasn't the flight, but one has to calm themselves, somehow.
Tikki nodded and though for a while..
"Maybe you're just-" The red kwami began but got cut off by a freaking Marinette.
"..ADRIEN! I didn't notice him sitting anywhere! What if he's still at the airport... I'm such a terrible friend!!!!"
Tikki sighed.
"No, Marinette! You're a great friend! He's probably asleep, just like the rest of the passengers. Seriously.. Maybe you should rest too.." She tried reassuring her holder, who seemed to be deep in her thoughts.
"C'mon, Mari.. Chat Noir told you that he saw him get on. Do you not trust him?"
Marinette looked at Tikki and then at her very own reflection.
"You're right.. Chat would never lie to me. He's just probably asleep.. With Nino... And Alya.. And the others.." The blue eyed girl smiled weakly. The feeling of something being wrong didn't go away.. It had actually worsened. However, it was time for her to get back to her seat. She opened the door and noticed someone pacing back and forth. They seemed to be looking for something.. Someone? The figure then came closer to her.
"Marinette! There you are!"
It was Chat. Marinette was confused.. Why would he be looking for her?
"Is everything okay?" She asked. Chat slowly returned to his seat, letting Marinette go first so they wouldn't struggle. He took some time to answer. Marinette looked at him with curiosity on her face. Or that's what he could recognize, thanks to his night vision.
"Yeah. Everything's fine, but.. I can't seem to find my.. Erm.. Friend." He spoke, trying not to say anything suspicious again.
"Friend?"
"Yeah. A friend... That I... was supposed to go with.." He explained briefly. Marinette didn't ask for any details, instead, she looked at him.
"Are you sure you looked carefully? I know you have night vision and all, but maybe he's just sleeping in a weird position, so you just haven't noticed him." She tried thinking rationally.
"You're right.. I just find it rather strange that I didn't see him.. Or any other people that I'd normally recognize." The blonde boy continued.
Any other people WE'd normally recognize. He thought to himself.
"Chat.. They're probably all asleep.. Or the seating got mixed up.. And if anything, you could stick to my class. I'm sure you'd enjoy it and they'd welcome you." Marinette placed her hand on his shoulder. He smiled at her softly, but she couldn't see it.
Oh, if only you'd know
"Just stay calm, I'm sure your friend...Is....Here... Somewhere.."
"I know.. Just.. Feels a lil weird.." He replied.
Marinette didn't reply, because she had fallen asleep. She was way too tired. Chat Noir watched the sleeping girl for a while before falling asleep himself.. What Marinette didn't know was the fact that Chat was experiencing the very same uneasy feeling. The blonde boy promised himself that he would look for all of their classmates in the morning..
They couldn't get on the wrong plane.. Right..?
-
Marinette woke up. The sun was setting up.. It looked truly magical, seeing the stars fade away and a brand new day approach. Another good idea for a robe..
The bluenette rubbed her eyes. She then realized that she was laying on something black and warm. Her eyes looked up and noticed a familiar strand of blonde hair.
"..Adrien..?" She mumbled.
"Not exactly." A voice responded.
She then lifted her head only to notice Chat Noir... She had moved in her sleep and ended up resting her head on his shoulder. Her bluebell eyes widened.
"Oh my.. I'M SO SORRY, CHAT!" Her voice was high.
"STARS, CAN YOU BE QUIET? SOME OF US ARE TRYING TO SLEEP!" The old lady next to Chat scolded her. Chat started to laugh. It was now Marinette, who was sitting with crossed arms, glaring at the blonde boy.
"C'mon, Marinette.. To be fait, you were quite loud.." Chat said, still chuckling.
"S-so? I thought you were someone else for a second, okay? I'm sorry!" The bluenette scoffed a small blush appearing on her face.
However, her angry expression didn't last for long and she found herself smiling.
"Are you two done? Pff, what have I done so that I had to sit with you two?" The old woman was really annoyed again. The two teenagers ignored her completely.
"How rude! One just wants to sleep..." She continued.
"We'll be landing soon, ma'am.." Chat Noir explained. The old woman just scoffed.
He was right, the plane landed in about 15 minutes. The pilots received a big applause for getting the passengers to their destination safely. The passengers then started leaving the plane. The duo stayed behind.
"Can you see him?" Marinette asked Chat.
"See who?" A confused Chat asked.
"Adrien!" The girl replied inpatiently. Chat sighed as he looked for Adrien, but surprisingly, he was nowhere to be seen. Marinette and Chat Noir got off the plane. They walked to another terminal together in silence...
"I'm sure he's behind us.. Or with the rest of your class." Char tried to easen up the situation. It didn't help at all. The bluenette sat down on a chair. She decided to wait for her class and Adrien.
Chat sat next to her. Marinette seemed really tensed up. She kept looking at the last people, who were getting off their plane. There was some school group, but she didn't recognize anyone and Chat didn't either.
"That's it.. I'm going to ask about them. They couldn't have just.. Magically disappeared!" She exclaimed as she got up. Chat watched her walk to the front desk. The uneasy feeling inside him rapidly increasing. He decided to follow her. The bluenette had just finished asking her question when he arrived.
"..I'm sorry, miss, but you're in California.." The lady responded. Chat noticed Marinette's face expression. Her eyes widened, her mouth slightly opened and her peachy skin was unusually pale. He knew it.. He knew they got on the wrong plane.
"..Miss.. Are you okay? Do you need some water..?" The lady asked Marinette, as she also noticed the change of  her expression.
"N-no.. Thank you.." The bluenette stuttered. She walked towards a big window and stood there for a few minutes.
Chat walked up to her again, not knowing what to say. He watched the bluenette silently.
"I-I assume... California wasn't your destination either.. R-right?" She asked, her voice shaking. Marinette was still in shock, her heart beating fast, ringing in her ears.
She had gotten lost many times, but never in a foreign country, all by herself..
Well, she wasn't FULLY by herself, but even though she was Ladybug, she didn't know Chat Noir without his mask.
"Not my destination either.. But hey, we can buy new tickets.. Nothing is lost!" Chat attempted to be positive.
"What about Adrien..? You told me you saw him. Is he okay..?" Marinette eyed him, desperation in her voice.
"..Yes.. I actually saw him again. He probably had to hide-"
"That means... ADRIEN GOT ON THE WRONG PLANE TOO?!!" Marinette accidentally raised her voice, causing everyone to look at them.
Chat then realized his mistake. Now he'll need to play 2 characters.. Darn.
"Well, yeah.. Looks like it. He seemed really panicked.. Like.. Too panicked.. He seemed to be making such a big deal out of it.. Yeah!" The blonde superhero explained briefly.
"Chat... How can you say that? You don't know him! Of course he was panicking.. He has a really strict father! Now, where is he? I need to make sure he's okay." She seemed determined. Her voice wasn't shaking anymore.. Marinette literally collected herself for him.. Or well, his other ego. Chat just looked at her, stunned, thinking about how amazing she is.
"..Chat? You good?"
The superhero shook his head.
"Y-yeah! I'm okay. Adrien is probably just here, somewhere.. He's probably hiding somewhere because he can't be seen.. Don't worry, we'll find him."
"Are you sure..? I don't want to leave him here.. I'll look for him." Marinette was determined. "No- I will look for him. I'm a superhero, I can do this, okay?"
"..Promise?"
"I promise." Chat nodded and went to look for Adrien. The bluenette looked out of the window one more time. She was in California.. With Adrien Agreste and Chat Noir!
Adrien
Chat
Wrong plane
California
ADRIEN
HOW ARE WE GOING TO GET BACK?!
Think, Marinette, think!
Marinette took a deep breath before collecting herself mentally once again. She began noticing the people around her. She trusted Chat with her life, but she was still worried about Adrien.
She stood there, looking around, thinking about what to do next. Chat Noir was nowhere to be seen and same with Adrien..
-
"Adriennnn.." Plagg sighed, annoyed.
"I know Plagg.. I messed up." The blonde boy mumbled, feeding the kwami camembert.
"Messed up? Kid, you're done.. Now, you have to play 2 roles, which isn't that hard, sure, you handle it well in Paris, but you're supposed to play 2 roles while being with Marinette, who will be concerned about the other one if the role isn't currently present." Plagg explained.
"I know, Plagg.. I know. What was I supposed to do tho? I wanted to get to the plane as fast as possible, so I didn't have the time to detransform and then I noticed that Marinette was in similiar situation.." The model sighed. This was a very very difficult situation.
"I'm not blaming you, Adrien. You're just unlucky that out of all the people you could've gotten on the wrong plane with, you've ended up with Marinette."
"Why..? She's an amazing friend. She always knows what to do, she's smart and-"
"VERY smart, Adrien, VERY smart. That girl can put two and two together in no time."
"I know, Plagg! But what am I supposed to do?" The green eyed teen sighed, leaning against the wall. They were hiding on the restrooms, in a stall.
"The only thing you can do right now is to transform. She's most likely looking for one of your egos."
Plagg was right. He will think of something later.. Hopefully.
-
Where is he?! Marinette was pacing back and forth. She probably looked crazy, but she was really nervous. Luckily, Chat Noir was back. He slowly approached her.
"Chat! I was starting to think you left me here." Marinette looked at the superhero.
"Oh, please.. Were you scared?~" He teased and Marinette pushed him away, annoyed.
"Keep dreaming, ki- I mean Chat."
She smirked. Chat expected anything but this as a reply. He wasn't used to this Marinette. She was always shy around him.. Oh, well, she's probably nervous and tired.
"..Did you find Adrien by the way?" She then asked.
"Uhhh... No.... I think he had to hide somewhere.."
"Chat-"
"I promised he's okay Marinette. Trust me, okay?" He stopped her.
The bluenette nodded silently. The duo then walked out of the airport.
"We need a plan." Chat announced. Marinette looked at him and then she thought for a moment.
"Yes. But first, we need a place to stay.." She then said. Chat nodded. They were about to continue walking, when Marinette's phone started ringing. The bluenette froze on the spot. She carefully grabbed the phone, praying it wasn't her mom or dad. It was Alya - the second worst possible option.
"It's my friend, Alya.. And she's requesting a video call." She mumbled and Chat froze as well.
Marinette took a deep breath and picked up, quickly covering the front camera with her finger.
"MARINETTE, WHERE ON THE EARTH ARE YOU? DON'T TELL ME WE REALLY LEFT YOU BACK AT THE PARIS AIRPORT!" Alya spoke fast. She sounded worried.
Marinette gave Chat a helpless look.
"..Not quite.." She then replied.
"NOT QUITE?! SO YOU FELL ASLEEP ON THE PLANE AND FORGOT TO GET OFF? OR DID YOU STAY BEHIND, SHOULD'VE TOLD ME YOU NEEDED TIME!"
"Nono.. I didn't fall asleep on the plane either."
"MARINETTE, I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S THIS SUPPOSED TO MEAN, BUT YOU GET YOUR BUTT-"
Marinette's cheeks flushed red and Chat gave her an understanding look.
"Alya! Stop!!" She cut the auburn haired girl off and continued,
"..Now.. Please don't panic, don't yell, don't be mad and don't kill me.."
"Marinette."
"Also, please do not tell anyone."
"MARINETTE."
"You promise?"
"JUST TELL ME ALREADY, GIRL!"
Marinette took a deep breath.
"I.. Got on the wrong plane."
The bluenette quickly pulled the phone away from her ear.
"...YOU WHAT?!"
"..Yeah.. I went to hide during that akuma attack, but I was.. Slow.. You know me.. Haha." Marinette briefly explained and Alya understood right away. She sighed.
"Now it's your turn to not panic, but.. Adrien's not here either." Her best friend replied.
"I know, he's here somewhere.. I haven't found him yet."
"HE'S- WHAT?!! YOU GUYS BOTH GOT ON THE WRONG PLANE?!!! ARE YOU-"
"Alya, please! Tone it down.."
"WHAT- I'm sorry.. What are you guys planning to do? Where even are you?"
"California."
"..."
Silence. Alya went silent. Marinette gave Chat another worrying look.
"..How exactly are you guys planning to deal with this?" Alya's voice could be heard again.
"We don't know yet..  I don't even know where he is! But, please, please cover for us.."
"Marinette-"
"Thank you so much, you're the best!" Marinette quickly cancelled the call. She sighed once again. Chat was panicking too. He was praying that Alya and Nino will cover for him as well.. Or else, his father won't EVER let him leave the house.. He did not want that. His house was a mansion, a luxurious mansion, but it was also his prison. Ever since his mother's disappearance, he has spent countless days and nights sitting in his room by himself. He was so lonely and bored. School was one of the best things that has ever happened to him and Adrien didn't want to lose it. He didn't want to lose his sort of freedom, his friends..
"..Chat?" Someone tapped his shoulder. Marinette. He looked at her.
"Are you okay?" She asked. Marinette... He didn't wanna lose Marinette either. She was such a great and understanding friend.
"..Yeah." He replied after a while. Marinette placed her palm on his shoulder. Plagg was right.. She really could put two and two together instantly.
"It's gonna be okay, Chat.. Let's find a place to stay for now." The blue eyed girl said.
They called themselves a taxi and after a long ride and a while of walking with Marinette's GPS, they finally found a hotel. It was the only one nearby, so they were hoping that the hotel wasn't full. They then entered the hotel.
Inside, it was very decent looking, very luxurious. They made it towards the front desk.
"Hello. I'd like a room." Chat spoke.
Marinette was right next to next to him,  distracted by her thoughts. She was thinking about all the possible scenarios, like what would happen if her parents found out.. If the school found out.. How are they gonna get back home? Flight tickets are expensive.. This was a very difficult situation to be in. Perhaps, the miraculous of the horse, Kaalki could help if it wasn't in Hawk Moth's possession.
No.. Chat would have to find out her identity either way.
It would be way too suspicious if Ladybug was here as well, especially when Chat Noir was ALSO in this very same situation.. Maybe if-
"Miss?" An unknown voice could be heard.
The girl got back to reality. She looked at the receptionist, who had snapped her back to reality, holding out a bill with an enormous price. Marinette's eyes widened.
"I'm sorry, but do you really expect my princess to pay? What kind of a gentleman would I be, if I made the lady pay?!" Chat shook his head and scoffed as he paid the receptionist. The receptionist then handed the blonde boy the keycard to the room. Marinette was staring in shock, but didn't say anything.
"Let's go, Marinette.." Chat looked at the bluenette, who had just realized what just happened. They entered the elevator.
"..You didn't have to.." Marinette was looking down, still surprised.
"It's nothing, saving princesses is my specialty." Chat winked at her, Marinette rolled her eyes playfully at that remark.
"Still, that price was enormous.."
"It's okay, seriously.. Plus, it was the only hotel close to us. We didn't really have a choice here." The superhero explained. The elevator stopped and they began walking towards their room.. Chat slid the keycard on the door and it unlocked. The door opened and they entered the room.
