| ✕ |JOYCE had no time to react when a large hand grabbed ahold of her waist and dragged her backwards towards the hallway. When her back was pressed to the wall, she looked up to see a frantic Sam.
"What are you doing?"
He whispered the words. "He's gone."
The two remained still as a door down the hallway opened. Sam held his blade before him as he pulled Joyce up the stairs. When they reached the main room, Sam quietly grabbed the key ring from a nearby drawer.
Joyce jumped at the sound of clattering. She reached for the knife tucked away in her belt, and she followed Sam.
"Come on, Sammy! Don't you want to hang out with your big brother? Spend a little quality time?"
Sam and Joyce made their way through the bunker until they reached the electrical room. Joyce turned as Sam began unlocking the door, prepared to attack if she needed to defend Sam.
"Come on."
They entered the room, and Sam pushed open the fence before pulling the lever to the main power. Joyce stared through the dark room as Sam moved beneath the red light.
"Smart, Sam. Locking the place down. Doors won't open, I get it. But here's the thing. I don't want to leave. Not til I find you and her both. Sammy!"
The two hurried out of the room.
"You're just making this worse for you both, man! Oh, by the way, you can uh, blame yourself for me getting loose. All that blood you pumped into me to make me human— well, the less demon I was, the less the cuffs worked. And that devil's trap, well I just walked right across it. It smarted, but still."
They waited outside of the electrical room behind the wall.
"What's your plan here?" Joyce was beginning to panic. Not because they were playing hide and seek with a demon, but because of the flashing lights and the alarm that blared through the building.
Sam just motioned for her to wait. Footsteps approached, and the door to the electrical room opened farther. She listened to Sam's heavy breathing as they waited, her heart pounding inside of her chest.
The lights came on and the alarm went silent as the power turned on.
"This is the plan."
Sam ran out and closed the door to the electrical room before locking it.
"That's your big move?" Dean asked on the other side of the door.
"Listen to me, Dean. We were getting close, okay? I know you're still in there somewhere. Just let me finish the treatments."
Joyce stared at Sam concernedly. They waited for a response, but there was only silence.
"Dean?"
Sam stumbled back as the door began to thud.
"You act like I want to be cured." Dean argued, slamming against the door.
"Personally, I like the disease."
