A/N: This story is fanfiction based on the book Band of Brothers written by Stephen E. Ambrose and HBO's miniseries. The only thing I own is the main character. This is not supposed to be an accurate description of the second world war and some of the events are completely made up.

Please, be advised this story contains mature themes.

January 1941

"You look very beautiful, dear", the President said looking at his daughter. Elle did indeed look very beautiful with her black hair and dark eyes. Her dress and make-up were absolutely stunning, of course, what else could anyone expect from the daughter of the President of the USA.

When the President grabbed Elle's hand, he deliberately avoided looking into her eyes, fearing what he would see if he looked into them. He would have given so much to see her eyes sparkling with life and joy instead of their dead, defeated spark. The President wished there would have been another, better, way to keep Elle safe but there really wasn't, unless he would have been willing to send her abroad and that would guarantee nothing but a long distance between them.

When they reached the dining hall, Elle shook the President's hand off.

"I don't wanna go to this stupid party", she said glancing the President angrily.

"Dear, try to behave. It's only three hours, you can make it through", he said trying to sound encouraging. He knew Elle hated these dinner parties but what it would look like if one of his children wasn't attending even though she was living in the White House.

They sat on their seats and while the President started socializing with his guests, Elle didn't bother. The President was immersed in his conversation and therefore didn't notice Elle leaving the table. After all, the Secret Service was supposed to keep an eye on her all the time.

Suddenly, a chaos was created when a loud bang was heard outside. The President's eyes immediately started searching for Elle, wanting to make sure she was okay. However, she was nowhere to be seen.

The President was kept aside by the agents and soon, an agent walked into the dining hall holding on Elle's arm. The agent walked in front of the President and despite of being in front of several dinner guests, he snapped angrily.

"Your daughter stole my gun and shot cans with it in the garden!", he cried and looked dangerously frustrated, "that's it! I'm not babysitting this horrible child anymore, I quit!"

The agent threw his gun and credentials on the floor and left the dining hall quite pretentiously. When the dinner guests started talking and laughing again, being considerate enough not to ask anything about the incident, the President buried his face in his hands.

Sometimes, Franklin was just too soft on Elle, thought Eleanor Roosevelt, the First Lady of the USA. She didn't necessarily love her husband like a wife should love a husband but Eleanor considered Franklin as her friend and a business partner. The outside world didn't have to know about their estranged marriage and the world didn't need to know how goddamn undisciplined the President's daughter was.

Eleanor grabbed tightly from Elle's arm and dragged her to another room where they could have some privacy from the guests.

"Drink this", Eleanor snapped to Elle and handed her a glass filled with white liquid. Elle knew exactly what is was, this wasn't the first time she had been forced to take sedative drugs. Sometimes her behavior was simply so horrifying that actions had to be taken. Franklin didn't want Elle to be sedated but sometimes they didn't have any choices.
