As I regained consciousness, memories of the previous events flooded my mind, leaving my head pounding. I instinctively shut my eyes tight and grasped my temples.
A concerned voice pierced the air: "Your Highness, are you alright?!"
I slowly opened my eyes to find myself in Julia's chamber, lying on her bed, with two knights standing guard beside me.
"What happened?" I asked, sitting up, still trying to clear the fog from my mind.
The knight on the left, Joe, explained, "The emperor knocked you out before you could harm yourself, Your Highness."
Logan, the other knight, added, "It's clear the emperor still has feelings for you."
I felt a spark of excitement at Joe's words, and my heart began to race. "What do you mean?" I asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
Joe looked at me quizzically. "I just said the emperor has feelings for you..."
I leaned forward, my mind racing. "Are you certain?"
Joe nodded. "Isn't it obvious?"
A cunning plan began to take shape in my mind. I would feign affection for the emperor, and perhaps he would spare my life. Meanwhile, I would secretly search for proof that I wasn't the real Julia. Once I found it, I would reveal it to the emperor, and he would have no choice but to release me.
But doubts crept in, threatening to undermine my confidence. What if it didn't work? What if something went wrong? I pushed the thoughts aside, focusing on my new plan.
From now on, whenever I encountered the emperor, I would put on a charming, loving facade. I steeled myself, trying to ignore the urge to recoil at the thought.
