Winter might feel a little warmer if i'm with you

A story of tragedy, today I shall tell.
A tale of ignorance, and despair.
A lesson that love is never really fair,
And a contest, on who can better look like they just don't care.

But alas, it was never really this way.
For the Stars kept in words he knew he'd never be able to say.
Days and nights spent together, one always out of the other's reach.
The Moon watched helplessly as his walls were effortlessly breached,
As unwanted emotions seeped into his chest.

At first glance, this tale seems dreamy and sweet.
Like pieces in a puzzle, but this puzzle will never be complete.
The Moon eventually fell for the Sun,
The Stars watching as he eventually drifted too far.
Her eyes of gold held him under a spell,
And yet the Sun stayed, despite knowing this wouldn't end well.

He had made a vow, a swear to always stay by the Moon's side.
Ignoring how his emotions became increasingly hard to hide.
The Moon never spared him a second glance,
Ignorance never really standing a chance.
The Moon bragged and boasted about what they were,
Though deep down he knew he didn't deserve a love as benevolent and beautiful as her.

Though they'd always be together, heart to heart,
It seemed as though they could never be more far apart.
What meant everything to the Stars, the Moon saw as just a chore.
But yet, the Stars never dared to ask for more.

Endless emotional torture and frustration,
Eventually lead to even more endless confusion.
The Stars could never put his emotion into words,
While the Moon talked as freely as a soaring bird.
The Stars cursed himself for being ever so naive,
Craving the love he would never receive.

He soon realized though none of it was true,
He was happy as long as he could see those eyes of blue.
That intoxicating smile, and that melodious laugh,
It effortlessly numbed the pain that tore his heart in half.
"Why do you fight so hard to make me stay?" A conflict that would start to begin.
"Because I fought even harder to let you in."

And no matter how many times the Moon pushed the Stars away,
He never failed to remind him that he would be here to stay.
And even if the Moon never did love the Stars,
He'd be fine, despite just watching from afar.
Though he couldn't help but sometimes envying the Sun,
He kept it all inside, for he knew, even if he wanted to, he'd never be able to run.

Very much like this poem, his life is left uncomplete.
For deep down, the Stars knew he'd never be able to compete.
